    And I always get errors
  • NeoconSat Feb 16, 2019 4:45 pm
Drag the Ground and User folders from the .zip file directly to the YS directory (where the .exe's are located) and they will be installed.
  • VIDMANSat Feb 16, 2019 4:45 pm
Oh, not into the ground folder?
  • NeoconSat Feb 16, 2019 4:47 pm
No. 99% of addons, you drag the Aircraft/Ground/Scenery and User folders from a .zip into the main YS directory.
  • VIDMANSat Feb 16, 2019 4:48 pm
    Thanks Man!
  • NeoconSat Feb 16, 2019 4:50 pm
No problem. By the way, my video starts with how to install the 1% of addons that don't use the standard method first because it's always good to know exactly how the system works. :)
  • VIDMANSat Feb 16, 2019 4:52 pm
    Ok

Are a lot of small polygons in maps better than larger polygons?
  • waspe414Mon Feb 18, 2019 11:21 pm
D3D has issues rendering large polygons and for some reason renders them as fog at a lot of angles
  • waspe414Mon Feb 18, 2019 11:22 pm
So smaller is better. No real effect on framerate until you get down to like meter per pixel mapped polygons
  • NeoconMon Feb 18, 2019 11:23 pm
I have tried both. In YSF, I don't think it matters.
  • decaff_42Mon Feb 18, 2019 11:24 pm
Okak I was looking at making an DNM to FLD conversion tool for 2D shapes and my initial attempts with just outlines for the polygons didn't work well (weird effects in- scenery editor) so I figured that a bunch of triangular faces in the SRF would work better for the actual converasion, but wanted to check about in-game impacts
  • decaff_42Mon Feb 18, 2019 11:25 pm
Cause for me importing large images into scenery editor is bad, but works pretty good in blender.
  • decaff_42Mon Feb 18, 2019 11:25 pm
    *fan boys in blender harder*

New OpenYS Version - does it work? Lemme know.

HBD to Bombat - 33 today.
  • NeoconWed Feb 20, 2019 2:37 am
I'm running OYS 2.0 right now. If someone could try joining and let me know how it goes, I would be happy. :)
  • FlakeWed Feb 20, 2019 3:10 am
Lol ditto on that, I too would be very happy :P
  • NeoconWed Feb 20, 2019 3:13 am
To be clear, even though it is not showing on the Server List, my server should be online, so just log in using the usual address, yscas.ddns.net
  • FlakeWed Feb 20, 2019 3:28 am
Looks like I can login okay, I just need to grab the map! Cheers pat, you've been very helpful so far~
  • NeoconWed Feb 20, 2019 3:29 am
I'm looking forward to a shakedown flight event in the future. :)
  • FlakeWed Feb 20, 2019 3:37 am
Looks like the netcode is holding up fine, but I'm having some issue with acknowledgements not coming through
  • FlakeWed Feb 20, 2019 3:37 am
That's my coding problem though I do beleive, and I can work that out myself at home if I just copy your setup. :)
  • FlakeWed Feb 20, 2019 3:37 am
    Good first check :)
  • NeoconWed Feb 20, 2019 3:38 am
I'm logging on. Let's see if we can see each other.
  • FlakeWed Feb 20, 2019 3:38 am
All my acknowledgements failed and I got booted because of it (intentional)
  • FlakeWed Feb 20, 2019 3:39 am
That's probably the issue with the serverlist as well
  • NeoconWed Feb 20, 2019 3:39 am
Oh, you left. And I can't spawn a flight.
  • FlakeWed Feb 20, 2019 3:39 am
I'll have to check the code there. More than likely I'm not doing my packet-waiter updates correctly since the restructure. I can work this all out though :)
  • FlakeWed Feb 20, 2019 3:40 am
This is good though patrick, I've got the data I need for now.
  • NeoconWed Feb 20, 2019 3:40 am
Is there an error log I can send you?
  • FlakeWed Feb 20, 2019 3:40 am
Only what would've been in the window
  • FlakeWed Feb 20, 2019 3:40 am
I'll code in for the next release dumping output to a log file
  • FlakeWed Feb 20, 2019 3:40 am
That will make life much easier
  • FlakeWed Feb 20, 2019 3:41 am
I should be able to have something together tonight for tomorrow though
  • NeoconWed Feb 20, 2019 3:41 am
The text information in the console window moves up and I can't scroll back to it.
  • FlakeWed Feb 20, 2019 3:46 am
Yeah that's because it clears out every 10,000 lines
  • FlakeWed Feb 20, 2019 3:46 am
Under the hood right now, there are a LOT of debug messages coming through for the connection side of things. (Every time ONE packet comes in, like 30 lines are added.)
  • FlakeWed Feb 20, 2019 3:46 am
That'll be cleared in next update tonight.
  • NeoconWed Feb 20, 2019 3:55 am
I just flew the X-02 and cleared most of the ground objects around San Francisco and landed on the carrier. I'm liking this joystick, I couldn't have done that using the keyboard.
  • FlakeWed Feb 20, 2019 3:57 am
You got a Logitech Extreme 3D Pro right? How do you find the center spring? I think it's a bit tight...
  • NeoconWed Feb 20, 2019 3:58 am
Way too stiff, but that either it's getting lighter or I'm getting stronger as I use it. If I wasn't afraid I would need warranty service, I would probably take the spring out.
  • FlakeWed Feb 20, 2019 3:59 am
    Why not both
  • FlakeWed Feb 20, 2019 3:59 am
I modified mine by removing the spring and adding rubber bands instead - I don't recommend
  • FlakeWed Feb 20, 2019 4:00 am
You might consider getting a thinner wire gauge and making your own replacement spring though.
  • FlakeWed Feb 20, 2019 4:00 am
I find the stick is a "pew pew pew air combat danger zone!!1!1!!!" stick rather then a delicate precision formation stick, which is what I want personally.
  • NeoconWed Feb 20, 2019 4:02 am
I saw where somebody took zip ties to the stock spring and used them to compress the spring down. I haven't really looked closely into it yet, but when the warranty runs out so does time for the spring. haha
