Can you give us a little more detail? Which addon(s) are you trying to install?

Re: Nominations - Online Play [Closes 27 March]

Not done yet working for you fine people in HQ, so once again I throw my helmet in for Online Play. The relationships I've formed over a decade are crucial to the community building administration been doing these past six months, and for everything we have planned for the future. Vote for me and my...

*Looks left...looks right*

Why howdy there Skyline! Just hit up the modding contest guys (Decaff, Bomb, and Copper). NightRaven is fairly good at scratch builds as well.

Sometimes Ookla isn't accurate, your speed may be higher or lower depending on how it conductes the test. I recommend trying DSL reports sometime

Re: Need tech advice: New PC

Looking good! As for windows, the only difference is retail versions let you install on multiple machines over the years (just not at the same time). OEM keys get bound to your motherboard. So if you change the motherboard you usually need a new key (but there are ways around that)

Last night on the 49th server we broke a server record for most simultaneous users flying! over 20 people logged in, fun times were had. Re: Need tech advice: New PC

As the numbers get higher with gpu's they usually get better. 3gb of vram is plenty, since you won't be dealing with 4k textures that need more than 4gb anyway. Always go with a stronger card vs vram amount, unless you're buying quaddros and making movies.

Re: Need tech advice: New PC

No worries man, that's why you have us. You could skate by with the 610, although drivers may be an issue (should be fine, worst case it gives you a video out signal to use the computer but you won't be able to game much. Yeah margins for pc building really suck. They're probably just trying to turn...

Re: Need tech advice: New PC

No aftermarket CPU cooler needed, the AMD Wraith Spire cooler it comes with is so good most people overclock near 4ghz with it.

Btw, why do you have a TP link wired network adapter in there? The MSI board has built in 1 gigbit networking

Re: Need tech advice: New PC

Yes, two fans are better, as long as they're well designed (larger the better as well). I really feel your frustration though, building a (new) PC now is nigh impossible with the miners taking up all the cards, and with nan flash shortage SSD's and ram are way overpriced. I wouldn't pay more than MS...

Re: Current Projects

Could Airbourne's method be used to create a coral reef? Have the "floor" set into negative value, insert the reef on top, then add a transparent tinted layer as the "water". It would be a ground object like a floating runway, and thus still landable, with a view!

Re: Need tech advice: New PC

Depends, I think Pat was still running an XP machine, in that case it may have an IDE drive.
But if you do intend to junk your existing machine (if it's SATA), use that HDD as a storage drive and just buy a 240gb or 500gb SSD.

Re: Need tech advice: New PC

It's not my personal choice either, but it is faster than a 7200rpm 1 TB HDD, and stays within budget. I'd go with a 120gb or 240 gb SSD and a smaller HDD (maybe 500?) for now and add more drives as needed down the road. Will cost slightly bit more though since nan flash is in short supply these days.

Re: Need tech advice: New PC

Yes I agree, wait until November rolls around, there's pre black friday and post black friday sales. Here's a suggestion if you go with AMD . Blows that pre built Skytech machine out of the water. It's cheaper than the Intel machine I suggested a few months back and it's faster. 4 cores, 8 threads, ...

Re: Need tech advice: New PC

Amazon has this for just $670, which is $100 less than if I bought the parts from multiple sources. The only big difference I see is that the RAM is DDR3 instead of DDR4 and the processor is 3.8 instead of 3.2. I'm not really sure if these things are bad or not, though. Any opinions? Ram isn't the ...

Re: Need tech advice: New PC

Yes..but your handicapping yourself by using outdated parts on a $800 build. This won't last 5 years. I'm busy this morning but once I get back I can send you a parts list for $800 that's a touch bit more modern and futureproof

Re: YSFlight 20170910 Test Version

I can write C98/C++11 so I want to see YSFLIGHT network module and improve them too. But I know his policy so I didn't request that to keep his motivation. This has already happened. He's lost motivation, otherwise the game performance would not have gotten so bad since 2012-2013. The game runs poo...
