Re: Understanding YSFlight Physics

Yeah, I guess. It was probably the oversimplified middle school science class that said "sound travels faster in solids than in liquids and in liquids than in gases because of density." So you have to remember, most of this is me trying to wrap my head around it. My last post may have been...

Re: Understanding YSFlight Physics

Pressure decreases with distance from the Earth because there's simply less air pushing down from above the higher you go. Density decreases as pressure decreases because the pressure compresses the gas and makes it more dense, I guess. Now the temperature of a substance also affects its density, bu...

Re: A few things I'd like to say.

Oh, another bit of information I neglected to include. Some of you may remember that I lived in Hong Kong while i was last here. I have since moved to Singapore, and am going to school in the US. (That's what I mean by "all over the place") So I may be a bit wacky with the ol' timezones :l...

Re: Understanding YSFlight Physics

I find it interesting how the change in KIAS trend is much less pronounced than the trend in KTAS. If you think about it, the difference between IAS and TAS at higher altitudes is caused by differences in air density, which also changes the speed of sound at those altitudes. Therefore you'd think th...

Re: Looking to do aerospace engineering, what should I know?

Don't feel obligated to apologize, I love walls of text.

Thanks so much for all the help! I'll probably continue this in PM because I have a little more detail to get into, so I hope you don't mind inquisitiveness  But I need all the help I can get, considering it's nearly that time for me.

Looking to do aerospace engineering, what should I know?

I was hoping there would be someone here with experience who would be willing to give me a quick run-down of the basics. Thanks!

A few things I'd like to say.

WARNING: LONG POST! Let's see... where do I begin? It's been... what, 3 years now? Man, it seems like it's been so much longer. Anyways, before I really get started... Hi there. I can't quite introduce myself, because I'm not sure who I really am myself. Some of you may remember "bernholm"...

Re: F-14 Question

Well, I saw this: Going into too much detail on aircraft comparison in ysflight is tiring, and requires intimate knowledge of dats and the physics of ysflight. Few people know this, so instead here is a broad overview of general fighter types and their uses. The lightweight fighter: Think f-16. Thes...

Re: .Dat Variables

No, I want to make the gunners have a high gunpower so they can destroy the bigger buildings and ships when given anti-ground capability (yes, that would make it OP vs enemy fleets and stuff)

I don't think that applies to turrets (gunners) though

Re: Wanted: YSFlight Testimonials

Really YSFlight is an all round fun flight simulator. There is absolutely nothing stopping you from doing anything in this game. There are endless possibilities.

Or if you want a really short statement, YSFLIGHT is where the sky has no limit.
