Re: .Dat Variables

I was just looking at www.heinkel.jp/next releases and everyone's raving about getting their hands on those FLARES. It never occurred to me (until a second ago) that the WPNSHAPE command can be used to CHANGE THE FLARE SHAPE AND COLOUR!! I've never liked the red whirly thing, but assumed it was some...

Re: .Dat Variables

I don't think WEIGLOAD does anything - maybe on former versions of the game it did. I just cranked it up to 10000.0t and no difference was made. The sluggishness of aa aircraft seems determined by the number of bombs and missiles loaded. I also noted when firing off a few missiles or bombs, the vect...

[AIRCRAFT] Mudskipper Evolutions

Mudskipper Evolutions Category: Aircraft http://i.minus.com/idg8TwmruGxX5.png Between the original MAG-1 and the MAG-1_TVC there have been a heck of a lot of changes. For those who are interested, here they all are. Please note that some of the shapes may not match the .DAT or collision files exact...

MAG-1 Mudskipper TVC / UAV Category: Aircraft http://i.minus.com/ibxjmenTeo73cv.png MAG-1 Mudskipper: Having gone through all the A- and F/A- designations, I thought I'd start a new one: MAG, for Micro Air-Ground. This one is designed to fly low and slow, under 400kts. It has two engines for added ...

[AIRCRAFT] A-10 UAV

A-10 UAV Category: Aircraft http://i.minus.com/i0USEk28r18JQ.png This is entirely speculation, based on a single reference in Wikipedia. All I've done is removed the pilot, controls, and cockpit components, and added the new canopy and UAV markings. The .dat file has been tweaked slightly - the pla...

Just to give you an idea of how many variants have been tried & rejected. Of course there may be a few more by next week. The trouble with a fictitious design is it is never finished.

As a futuristic plane, it also makes sense to do a UAV option.

Mudskipper Evolution Part 3

http://i.minus.com/ibixzPbngKfNmX.png Mudskipper Evolution Part 3 by grigor The Mudskipper continues to evolve. I've reconfigured it for fluidic thrust vectoring. This feels right. Simpler, lighter, better low-speed handling. Unlike previous planes the TVC is just to steer it, not to make it super-...

Mudskipper Evolution Part 2

http://i.minus.com/j1OThunnopqKG.png Mudskipper Evolution Part 2 by grigor Since last week I've figured it doesn't really need canards if it's got that tailplane. Then I'm thinking the wings should be a little wider to generate the required lift, since this thing flies Low and Slow. Moved the guns ...

Re: What-if: Rare and Unusual Aircraft Pics

...Ah, the X-planes. Those were heady days... men in checked shirts with crew-cuts and slide rules, pushing the frontiers above and beyond Edwards and such places. The Right Stuff. I just found a picture of Yeager with the X-3: http://www.chuckyeager.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/06/X3.jpg He kind of ...

I'm just going to keep throwing 'em at ya. Re: What-if: Rare and Unusual Aircraft Pics

I haven't yet looked into the "recumbent" position, like on a banana lounge - the F-16 has the pilot laid back by 30 degrees, which allows for higher-G's, so why not go back further? Like a banana lounge position, or lower. With the right cockpit layout vision would still be half-decent. Meanwhile, ...

Re: What-if: Rare and Unusual Aircraft Pics

Thanks for the responses, guys. The E.555 most certainly did not disappoint. Here's another one I'd never heard of 'til recently, in a similar vein to some ideas I've been pursuing - small, simple, and well armed. Like a shrunken A-10... http://up-ship.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2009/11/midget2.jpg...

What-if: Rare and Unusual Aircraft Pics

I am, and have always been, a fan of the unusual. I get a real kick out of stumbling upon images of planes that I'd never seen, never heard of before. Those what-ifs, the concept drawings, the prototypes and mock-ups of planes that didn't quite make the big time. I hope this topic provides some thri...
