Re: Random questions about anything NEAR and IN the realm of YSFlight

MANESPD3 is to do with driveable ground vehicles. And yeah, I too modded an FSMAIN.exe to get rid of SHOOT when you get missile lock on AGM65s. But, hmm, getting rid of stall might be interesting...

Re: Random questions about anything NEAR and IN the realm of YSFlight

Here's a random question... has anyone used the keyword MONTRILS in an aircraft DAT file? I ask because I was digging around the innards of FSMAINDX.exe (exploring, that is, NOT hacking) and this keyword leapt out from amind many familiar ones: ...INITRCKT GUNDIREC VGWSPED2 VGWSPED1 GUNPOWER MONTRIL...

Re: Anyone else like this idea?

I like this idea also, I think I posted about this exact idea elsewhere years ago. I've been playing with piggyback programs (like Dogfight, which I've been continuously tinkering with) that detect whether the name of the SCN file contains the word "night", and if so, automatically switch the time o...

Re: [UPDATE] YSFLIGHT HANDBOOK

Hi there. An ambitious project, i must say! Is it still going? Just a few things for page 45-46 about TURRET commands... here are some you didn't include: TURRETPW gunpower for the turret TURRETNP name of DNM node for pitch animation TURRETNH name of DNM node for heading animation TURRETWP name of w...

Re: [AIRCRAFT] Mig-41 Firefly-G

Ahoy, Swift! Your new Mig-41 is certainly an improvement - nice to see you got rid of those WAY-overly-complicated dorsal vents and got the DNM down to a more reasonable size. There is some nice, fine detail on the model also. But again I had to manually edit the ff_cock.srf and ff_coll.srf files as...

Re: YSFlight 20170314 Test Version (UPDATED)

I agree with all this. With respect to Mr Soji, there are so many simple things he could have done, but didn't, to improve the game, and so many things he added that we don't want or need. I'm still using fsmaindx.exe in version 20120701 - everything after that has been either too slow or lacking ce...

Re: Mig-41 Firefly Pack

Nice to see some new speculative planes out there. All are beautifully designed with agreeable flight characteristics. I did however have trouble with the collision, weapon, and other .SRF files, which are structured like .DNM files when opened, causing the program to crash. (This could be because ...

Yeah... I'm still using version 20120701. Don't like the newer ones... too clunky.

Re: [AIRCRAFT] C-119 Flying Boxcar

A few years later, I have to add - have you tried WPNSHAPE GUN FLYING to add tracer bullets / muzzle flash? take a look at Grigor's Planes 2016 for a demo!

Re: .DAT Variables

WPNSHAPE GUN FLYING can also be used, to great effect, though the orientation of the srf doesn't exactly follow the attitude of the plane. Low poly count would be advisable, as so many are produced. The shape also doubles as the oft-wished for muzzle flash effect, as seen here: https://forum.ysfhq.c...

Re: Grigor's Planes 2016

Apologies to all.... I advertised muzzle flash and high-vis tracer bullets without including the necessary User/Grigor/Weapons folder. This has been remedied in the new Grigor's Planes 2016-1 zip folder.

These gun effects use the WPNSHAPE GUN FLYING keyword.

Re: Grigor's Planes 2016

Hi all,

Yeah, if previous years are anything to go by, I'll maybe once a year dust off the old YS folders and tinker with new designs & ideas. These are the best of the best of last year's. Seems a waste doing all that work and not putting it out there!

Re: Elevation Grid Generator

Yeah... the bitmap needs to be on screen - I could move it to the top left - but that's the clunky way the program reads the value of each pixel. As for a progress bar, I'm not sure whether that would just slow it down further. Perhaps we'll just recommend not using anything bigger than say 150x150 ...

Re: Elevation Grid Generator

I tried out a 256 x 256 bitmap and even that was too much for my old XP machine... 120 squared works. Take a look at Testmap_3.bmp in the updated download.

Re: Elevation Grid Generator

I've just tried out a 320 x 250, and it works OK... I guess the only limit would be how much graphics data your machine can handle. Even Testmap_1.bmp at 60x60 pixels, with a grid size of 400 x 330 makes for spectacular scenery and fun flying. I've always been a little nonplussed at the flatness of ...

Elevation Grid Generator

This program generates ELEVATION GRIDS for YS Flight Scenery Files from GREYSCALE bitmaps. 1) Run the program from wherever you like - no installation necessary. 2) A file menu will ask for a bitmap filename. 3) Enter the grid size - number of segments is generated automatically from the bitmap file...

Re: Simple HUD

Just go into config\ -> flight.cfg and manually edit the SIMPLEHUD variable (towards the bottom of the file) to TRUE. This should set the default HUD to simple, so long as you don't change any configurations from the game menu - if so, you'll have to manually edit again. Seems to work for me, anyway...

Re: [AIRCRAFT] Convair Charger Model 48

Same here, Monoceros... once in a while a plane comes along that just has to be released. I believe I put my earlier stuff onto YSUpload. I had some kind of cloud storage account before that, but the name and location of it has long slipped my mind...
