Christmas is here!

It's Christmas Eve! I hope I get a MU-2 for Christmas. Mitsubishi does still support the Hiroshima Screamer.

Anyways, Merry Christmas!!

Re: Anyone play FSX?

Also, Steam Edition Multiplayer does not work for me. It just will not work whatsoever. Same goes for all Steam games I have (Minecraft and YSFlight connect just fine). It's the reason why I didn't register with either Vatsim or IVAO.

Re: Anyone play FSX?

I've used it, but the community isn't as vibrant. Everyone is moving onto the steam version but for the die hards on the older version, and I wanna go have some fun with lots of people. Not a lot of people play boxed FSX (Accel, Deluxe, Gold). Everyone's on Steam Edition. I think you meant IVAO, We...

Re: Anyone play FSX?

I personally don't. I prefer X-Plane 11 for civil aviation, but I'm not exactly in a position to say one is better than the other. I'm sure some of the more GA guys can make a good call on it. Tip: You can ask questions like these (and your other threads) through the YSFHQ Discord Server. It's a lo...

Anyone play FSX?

Does anyone on this forum play Flight Simulator X? I have FSX: Steam Edition. Also, I have Combat FS and FS2000, just FYI.

Joystick or Keyboard?

I haven't played YSFlight for about a month now (dang FSX is addictive). I often played with keyboard, sometimes playing with joystick.

What do you use? Or prefer?

I would nominate the engine, and it's mechanism of generating lift, in the following video:

And that would be the engine being demonstrated starting at 0:46.
Haha, actually made me laugh. The "wing" jerking up and down makes it seem like a quasi-ornithopter.

Will TWA ever return?

Will Trans World Airlines ever return? I was born too late to fly in it, but from what I've read, they did provide great service.
Oh, and, by extension, will Pan Am return, too? After all, it was the airline that pioneered many of the services we take for granted today.

Re: Worst engine ever made

Really? On one occasion, the engine was shut off, only it kept running on leaking oil. They eventually had to destroy it by throwing a bucket of bolts into the engine to get it to shut down. That was during a test run of the engine. In addition, the engine was highly unreliable, and would tear itsel...

Worst engine ever made

What's the worst aircraft engine ever made? Reciprocating, turbine, ram- doesn't matter as long as it's an engine.

I'd say the Allison T40. Allison stuck two T38's side by side. The result was a garbage turboprop engine.

Re: My thoughts on YSFlight.

Thing is, the version you might want to stick with would be the latest stable version. That way you don't have to deal with the bugs of past versions. It is the wide consensus that the new YSF builds have more bugs, not less. I meant the latest release. Forget the beta builds. Kinda sucks tha...

Re: My thoughts on YSFlight.

What would be better? Sticking to a stable prior version that everyone can agree with. Ah yes. Thing is, the version you might want to stick with would be the latest stable version. That way you don't have to deal with the bugs of past versions. As for your other suggestions, we should come togethe...

My thoughts on YSFlight.

YSFlight is dying. Many are retiring, and few are coming in to replace them. To me, this seems pretty grim. I've received messages on some of my topics that these new users can bring new life into this game and it's associated forum, YSFHQ. However, I am riddled with work, and am fearing the day I g...

GEFS is an Easter egg. I don't think it can be considered a real flight simulator, given that it's contained within another program.

Re: Which engine, Garrett or PT6A?

I see that you have experience with the PT6C, a turboshaft variant. It's mostly identical to the PT6A, except that the PT6C obviously drives a helo rotor. The TPE-331 doesn't have a turboshaft variant, which is strange, given that most turboprop engines also have a turboshaft variant, or vice versa....

Re: The best and worst flight sim

Deep pockets AND good hardware? I have neither. Thing is, I've played MSFS ever since I can remember. To switch to something that's different would take too much effort, let alone switching to something that isn't very different. Sure, X-Plane is very realistic. But I'm a casual simmer, so FSX is en...

Well, I guess X-Plane 10 is good. I actually meant X-Plane 11. That one sucks. Also, some of the aircraft models are garbage. There's really no difference between X-Plane and FSX, as far as I can tell. Both are quite realistic.
