That was the problem. I threw all the imported scenery into the background and now I can put numbers on the runway. :D
I imported the runways at the very beginning of the precess using file->import->scenery and used the stock maps.

@ Shutter Thanks for the tip. I'm not working on making planes right now, but when I do, I'll give it a try. Right now I'm building some airports to use in some original maps. TF58 was right that you shouldn't post your first map...mine sucked. Looking back I can't believe how awful it looks compare...

I was also playing around with some A-4s in formation, but they didn't work out too well. I was able to fly in loose formation with the BUFF for about five minutes before i reached bingo fuel and had to turn back.

Almost everything is hardcoded into YS, weapons included. You can't add or modify them without hacking YS I was thinking more about making planes and maps, as well as changing the looks of the weapons. Understood, but that being said, there's lots of room to mod aspects of YSF outside of the .dat file. Rather than make a new weapon like a smoke pod, would it be possible to modify the characteristics of a missile so that it didn't leave the pylon, but still created the smoke as it is fired? I think...

I agree that it would be a lot of work, but for all the realism that it would add, it would make one plane/type of plane very nice to fly. I wouldn't want to do it to every plane, just the ones that would look good with that type of mod.

I like the idea of using sweep of the wings to shrink the nozzle. I makes sense and I've seen it on other planes as they accelerate. The use of the thrust vectoring for the increased flame might work. It would allow for a smoother transition between low and high afterburner. EDIT!!! I've found a pla...

@ plunderbird Meh, I'd rather have a simple smoke attachment. Just a matter of opinion. :D Either way you'd have to edit the .dat file to either add the weapon or make another smoke generation site. I guess in hind sight it would be less hassle for individual planes to make new generation sites, due...

Do you think It would be possible to go about attaching the smoke generators to the wingtips by making a smoke.srf file that would act like a weapon when you select the smoke option before flying. A simple quick edit of the .dat would make them loadable onto the wingtip hardpoints, and so you could ...

I bet it would be useful to take a peek at Kuro's black AK aggressor F-16s to get an idea of what to do for the paint scheme. Those are some well painted birds.

Yes, I quite agree. Reading is an invaluable skill. Seeing as I don't have the time to work on making the tank srf change mentioned above (Stupid research paper), I edited the .dat file of the one major plane I wanted to change and moved the order of the hardpoints around to make loading the weapons...

I feel really stupid now. I originally had "Red Flag user/Major..." I forgot about the "_" in Red_Flag. It works completely fine now. It seems that YSF cannot read spaces like Pro/Engineer. With a space like I originally had, the map name was RED and I got the errors when I was trying to fly the map...

That is a great idea, but I have no idea how to work gepolyx. I'm on a mac and it seems that every YSF software but blender is windows based. While I have a boot camp partition, I cannot access it frequently due to power consumption. Any chance you could move the vertices to be the same as a B500? h...
