What a wonderful concept. I wonder if something like that could be revived for the modern-day need for light attack.

I really like the low-speed handling for landing. Very predictable and smooth.

Re: YSCAS Racing Series - Planning Topic

Indy, do any existing maps come to mind that you think could work with this style of racing right now?

Re: YSCAS Racing Series - Planning Topic

Maps Off the top of my head there is the race in York Valley, the canyon in Libya from YSMajor. Overall I think it would be best to have a mix of different styles of map. Some more aerobatic and precise and others (like York Valley) with a more open and sweeping course. Mhw3 had some racing maps, b...

I place an empty where I think the head position should be and take that coordinates (Y,Z,X) into the .dat file

Re: YSFLIGHT crashes when loading my addon

200k faces is excessive in the extreme. I think Flasheart's Concorde topped out at like 110k vertices
Normal models range from 2k to 20k with more detailed models getting up to 40-50k vertices

Re: YSFLIGHT crashes when loading my addon

(1) What operating system? (2) What version of YSFlight? (3) What errors if any do you receive? Also what are you using to build your DNM? I'm seeing a weird path for the SRFs in the .dnm file. SRF "e:\Work\DELTAXYS\aill" FIL Mesh.008 CLA 0 NST 2 STA -0.0000 0.0000 0.0000 0 0 0 0 STA -0.0000 0.0000 ...

Re: Everything you ever wanted to know about .ter files but were afraid to ask

Bumping to add some more information. If you want to define the side wall colors, for an elevation grid building, then you have more lines at the beginning of elevation grid definition. If all the walls of your elevation grid can be the same color, then this makes things simple. :D For this elevatio...

The two variables you call out do impact the altitude and compass headings in-game.

Quantifying Lag / Shaking / Rendering Ability

Title kinda says it all.

What are the ways we can quantify how "bad" lag or shaking is or how hard YSFlight is working to render a map or airplane?

FPS seems like a highly relative measure as it can very widely between users and seems to largely depend on hardware.

Re: Decaff's Garage

Agreed. One thing that I loved about Taiwan's maps was how the elevation grids were broken up and seamlessly placed next to eachother. With Blender, it would be pretty easy to make a massive grid and then break it up into smaller sections.

Re: Decaff's Garage

The elevation grid methodology is coming along slowly. I'm seeing that a lot of the inputs in the .dnm will have to be made by someone who knows what will or will not break the codes as there is just too much assumed in the .ter format for complete automation. It's going to take some work to work th...
