Re: Training Weekends, and a New Outlook for Combat

I'm delighted to see such a strong positive response! To answer some of the questions/comments: My schedule on Saturday nights usually consists of some sort of social function with that being my only day off. However I might occasionally make it and would love to be a part of this. I'd be happy to s...

Training Weekends, and a New Outlook for Combat

I went on CP’s server and met a noob in an Su-27, I was so excited because I hadn’t really seen anybody play online as of late. He shot an AIM-9X at me and asked if I wanted to fight, and I responded "sure" and then killed him 8 times in a row, he rage quit after he missed me with a full missile sp...

Re: Let's Play: YSFlight

I've been thinking something like this could be a really good idea. Considering the general formlessness of YS, we might want to work out a particular structure - transit may look pretty dull unless we've got some pretty solid talkers. A good start might include the per-packaged mission files for of...

I would like to thank everyone who ran for a position or voted. Regardless of your opinion on the final outcome, your active commitment to the future of YSFHQ demonstrates the importance of the task ahead. I know that there have been some questions as to my own activity, but I would like to express ...

Standing under the final approach path at NAS Oceana back in 2003. There were Tomcats everywhere, and we were close enough that I could pick out the variant from the exhaust nozzles and chin pods.

I do miss them...

VFA-49 Ghosthawks Combat Pack 2015

A most impressive release. We've been thinking about adding a combat drone to the 171st lineup, so It's nice to see that you added one. My complements to DoE, and everyone who worked on this pack.

Oh, I'd not meant to imply that he should join simply to gain access to the planes. If that is his only interest, that would be a poor reason to join. I would agree, however, that they have been very effective in drumming up interest. Most aren't really to my taste, but they're certainly very well d...

Great sorties over Hawaiian skies last night on the 49th server. @Ace Lord, Venom, Mahora, MD5Ray, and JDog. Not the best screens, but oh well  Anyway nice run guys! [PROGRAM] OpenYS - Open Source YSFlight Server!

Thanks Flake, that fixed the issue. For additional information, I was able to replicate the problem on both the 2012 r2 server and a personal Windows 7 Home Premium PC, so if it is particular to the computer, it may be widespread. The fix listed worked on both computers with your latest release of O...

[PROGRAM] OpenYS - Open Source YSFlight Server!

Flake, I received the following error when trying to run the latest update of OYS on a server running Windows Server 2012 R2. I was using the latest official 2015 release of YSFlight.

New Horizon "Mission Pluto"

Space probes like New Horizon are only capable of flight, and of reaching their tremendous velocities, in outer space. On it's own, the craft would not be able to take off from the ground, let alone fly and maneuver within Earth's atmosphere. To the extent that it could, YS does a rather poor job of...

Oh my, wasn't sure when we were going to see one of those for YS. There are only so many aircraft with GE style exhausts, and this one, if I'm not mistaken, is one of the most exotic - the HAL Tejas, right?

New Russian Carrier Design Unveiled

Looks like a dual islands design like the newer European carriers. I think the best early indicator we might get for how serious the Russians might be about this would be flying hardware for a carrier capable AEW type like the one on the model. That, possibly more than anything else, is a real mark ...
