I'm pretty sure Akira had one done already. He just haven't got around (for the past few years) to package up all his 737 stuff and release it. I gotta figure out a way to do that without people thinking it is my job (even though I did a few of his 737s).

They should do one in the pre-WW2 USN colors: fuselage in bare metal finish, with the top of the wings painted yellow and a colour diagonal stripe. Besides fictional novels, try reading some non-fictional biographic style books: Yeager - Chuck Yeager's autobiography The Big Show, by Pierre Clostermann - the WW2 diary of a French fighter pilot flying for the RAF Thud Ridge, by Jack Broughton - Broughton was a USAF officer, and the book is about ...

What Phoenix said. Go with Tom Clancy, and start with Hunt for Red October. Red Storm Rising is another good place to start, and has the benefit that it has a stand-alone background unrelated to all his other novels.
