Dogfight v2.33

Post by Culkster »

Didnt really want to drag up an old post by commenting on it but I have a question about the Dofight v2.33 program for YSFlight

Ive noticed no matter how many friendly aircraft are chosen the enemy AI only attacks and focuses on the players aircraft to the point they ignore friendly AI on their tail and keep hunting the player aircraft

Is there a way to stop this happening or does anyone have an idea how to change it?

I have not personally used the program before. However there may be some ways to figure some of this out. What version of YSFlight are you using?

Start by collecting some data. Try a map with few to no ground objects to help keep the .yfs file complexity down. (My Flight Test Map may be a good starting point)
(1) Create a simple combat simulation in-game with 2 friendly and 2 enemy planes.
(1a) start the simulation but immediately hit pause and end it.
(1b) Save the .yfs file.
(2) Re-create the combat simulation in v2.33.
(1a) Save the .yfs file.

Upload the .yfs files so others can take a look, but you should start a line-by-line comparison to figure out what is different.

Sorry about the late reply, real world got in the way

This is the Dogfight program .yfs file
http://www.mediafire.com/file/xul9qjjex ... t.yfs/file

This is the normal YSF internal dogfight .ysf file
http://www.mediafire.com/file/8remh7t59 ... t.yfs/file

I can see a few differences in the files side by side, but hardly know anything about .yfs files to be able to spot things

Can you upload the files before flying them? Hit OK in the dogfight menu rather than Fly Now, then File>Save Flight. There may be a priority target marker on the player in the Dogfight Generator output or something.

That doesnt let me save a .ysf file without it going into game and flying first :(

I was able to grab the temporary .ysf from the generator. I haven't been able to replicate the AI behaviour you described in stock dogfight or Dogfight Generator. What version are you using?

What about "DOGFIGHT" variable "F<id>" value? Such values exists in the normal YSFlight internal dogfight .ysf file, but NOT exists in Dogfight program .yfs file:

Code: Select all

...
AIRPLANE SU-27_FLANKER FALSE
STARTPOS NA SOUTH10000_01
IDENTIFY 1
IDANDTAG 3 ""
AIRPCMND ULOADAAM
INTENTIO
DOGFIGHT G7.00 B20.00 F3
...
AIRPLANE MIG-29_FULCRUM FALSE
STARTPOS NA SOUTH10000_02
IDENTIFY 1
IDANDTAG 4 ""
AIRPCMND ULOADAAM
INTENTIO
DOGFIGHT G7.00 B20.00 F2
...

That's one of the few variables I've not been able to pin down. It shows up in my YS-generated dogfight .yfs but not the Dogfight Generator one, and it's not in Culkster's.

In my «YSFlight Handbook» dogfight variables not covered yet, but there is backup of webpage with more details on .ysf/.yfs variables: As I understand, "F<id>" value used for aircrafts in formation (not sure how YSFlight use it in dogfight mode), but I also found difference between YSFlight and Dogfight Generator outputs in "G<value>" (G limit) and "B<angle>" (tail warning radar angle) values:

In YSFlight output:

Code: Select all

...
DOGFIGHT G7.00 B20.00
...
In Dogfight Generator output:

Code: Select all

...
DOGFIGHT G666.00 B180.00
...
Also, I'm not sure what means YSFlight's dogfight: starting of ../mission/gunfight.ysf ("File > Open Mission > Air Combat: Machine Gun Dogfight") OR starting "Endurance Mode" ("Simulation > Fly Endurance Mode")?
