I'm pulling the plug on the Hangar

Post by Taskforce 58 »

After many years of leaving it dormant but still keeping it up, I've decided to pull the plug on my website www.ysflight.ca . I haven't touched YSflight in years, though I still occasionally look around the forum to see what is up (glad to hear Soji is making it open source). Maybe someday in the future I'll come back to it.

These days, most of my spare time are either spent on working on actual plastic models (e.g. Bf-109G-10s that I finished a while back) , or on the computer playing either KSP, IL-2 1946, or Strike Fighters 2.

I'll spend more time in the forum the next few days to answer any questions.

How much does it cost to host, and would you be willing to pass it over to one of us to maintain rather than taking it offline outright?

The hosting is $18 per month and the domain registration is $50 per year (Canadian). The domain is paid through May 2024, but the site hosting will be done next month.

I don't mind if someone wants to take over the ysflight.ca domain to keep it ysflight related, instead of letting some domain squatter occupying it. But it won't be the TF58 Hangar if I'm not making any new contents for it.

It would be nice to keep it in the community, and keep existing links to your packs unless you'd like them removed. We could also add an image board for uploads now that Imgur is cutting down on anonymous uploads. I'd be up for taking it on for the indefinite future

Sad to hear but i understand the decision as it is costly to run a domain. Your website brought back alot of childhood memories for me as your addons were among the first I download, installed and enjoyed on YSFlight back in 2010-2011
