If you want to look around the cockpit, You can just go plan old f1 view, and set the view x and y axis to your mouse (in the joystick config)

The hud is annoying though, so to remove that, create a new text file and save it as inst.ist, and add that as a INSTPANL line in the .dat

finally, go fly/watch the replay and turn the use instrument panel to ON. Then use the mouse to look around.

Or use the simple HUD. It'll disappear when you look away. However, if want a shot directly ahead then the instrument panel thing is the way toy go. The only problem, though small to some, is that the cursor will be visible while you're looking around. I know that some programs highlight the cursor (I believe fraps does this) but I'm not sure if you can hide it. I may not mean much to you but some may complain.

I use hyperrionics hypercam. It can record uncompressed (just like fraps), add starbursts and memos... but here is the juice to it:

It can ignore recording the cursor, and you can also select the rate of recording and a different playback rate to. Couple this with the ability to select windows or screen regions, pan the camera around the screeen, etc... And you have a SOLID system for recording. I use it ALWAYS, and have only had a problem on my Imac due to my graphics card clock settings. :D (records less frames and plays them all back super fast... :/)

Give it a try. If you can work it out, you'll be pleasently pleased.

So does it work on a mac? I've been using ScreenFlow, and I have yet to have a problem with that yet. I like your idea to replace the HUD file. It would be easy to go back and forth to aid in playback recording

When you zoom in on YSF it doesn't happen very smoothly. Is there a way to make it look real smooth like when camera's zoom in?Or does it depend on the type of mouse I have.

If you hold down F8 and click and use the mouse, you should be able to pan/zoom. It's very smooth.

were you referring to using the scroll wheel or using a assigned key for the zoom in/out?

Well never mind my question but here's a tip for the contrailer. If you fly with hud off(basically you don't see anything)You can make those shots you get in the beginning of movies with the camera running across the water and stuff.

That's a pretty cool idea. I never thought of using the contrailer for that. :D
