YS installation directory

Post by BarLock » Fri Nov 25, 2011 1:59 am

Hey folks, recently I've downgraded my computer from Windows 7 to XP for personal preference, and my computer just seemed to run better on it. However i'm having toruble intsalling YSFlight on it. I downloaded and started the setup, and when it came to the installation directory, usually i would use something like C:/Program Files/YSFLIGHT.COM/YSFLIGHT because that worked on 7, but doesn't seem to be working now. If anyone out there could help me with this problem, maybe with a suggested directory that'd be great. Thanks.

As far as I know you can install it anywhere. I currently have the YSFLIGHT.COM folder in My Documents, the actual executables in a totally different place.

Yeah, it should work just fine in XP. I tend to keep all my files in a
subdirectory of a subdirectory, it kinda keeps the files away from the
direct access of the grandkids; but I'm having trouble getting the
sceneryeditor file to work properly (I'm hoping Its not related, but
I guess it could be). Edit: [Problem recently solved, thanks to Danny]
I'm on VISTA.
What kind of symptoms are you experiencing?

Ok I just tried using My Documents, and according to the setup the installation was complete. However when I try to start up the program after, I get a message saying "Windows is searching for fsmain.exe. To locate the file yourself, click browse." And so I did, and upon finding the file i clicked it, and all that's in it are readme's and the setup once again. AFter clicking that YS exe for a while It just tells me that the file doesn't seem to be working and gives me an option to delete the shortcut.

First off, I just wanted to say this:

BROOKLYN ALL DAY

Secondly, delete and reinstall YSF. Make sure you're using an administrator account to install it.
