By NUKE, do you mean something in YS with a magnitude of an atomic bomb?

I think an expansion of the classes of weaponry would be feasible and most welcome. Nukes would most likely kill the plane that dropped it as the hit radius would be too big. ;)

Suggested new weapon classes: 2000lb, 1000lb bombs, ~20km AGM

Suggested weapon edits:
-mid-range missiles can target planes 25 miles away
-short range missiles cannot target anything closer than 0.6 miles to simulate real missiles. (helps make gun battles more likely/ more realism)

while BVR combat would be interesting, like gunny said, few maps would be big enough to make any aircraft out-of-range. If you had a huge map with two carrier groups this might be an interesting option, but it would be tactically useful in probably less than 1 or 2 percent of maps.

quite frankly it would make YS a little less friendly. You would be fighting someone you couldn't really see.
Taskforce 58 wrote:I don't see any need to regulate weapon performance, if they are implemented like maps or aircraft, and controlled by the server. If a weapon is not desirable for online play, whether they made too much damage or the range is too long, simply have the server owner take it off the server's weapon list.
This is a valid point that several people brought up. By making the weapons modifiable, setting min and max limits for all the parameters would help regulate things. nukes would be impossible and servers could select the classes they wanted to use.

As for specific weapons, I just want a light weight AGM like the Hellfire so that I can finally arm my Predator. The current Maverick in the game is too heavy for it.

A bunker-buster would not be too powerful, but what would it be used for?
There are nothing like bunkers except elev.grids, but it does seem that
there are some items that cannot be touched be current weapons; say, for
instance, the target under the roofed structure on the slapstick map.

About the only thing that I would like is Long-Range AAM's. It seems that Soji has it planned to have them, because there is Short-range and Mid-range. Just so that things like and F-14 would be more plausible.

EDIT: This idea hit me a while back, so I figured why not? Since we now have individual weapons available to use on models, why not have the option to have individual sounds handled in a similar manner? Or would this be something not possible at this current stage of development? I really have no idea about how one would go about this, but it could be a difference that could make YS Flight much more enjoyable.
Am I back? Probably not.

That's actually pretty easy to do. Just do like he did with the weapons. At this rate, YS could have addons in line with FSX, albeit without textures and other cool shit....

You can always make maps with ground objects shaped as elevation grids.

Take the node coordinates of the elevation grid, and insert points into blender that match that, add in the appropriate faces, and export as a ground object.

still, destructible scenery would be an interesting thing to have.

My excitement level-o-meter just went up a few million notches. Smart AI-now that would make for even more awesome offline flights.
Hi! I make average, undesirable, boring grey maps for YS Flight!

My two cents:
Most over-used phrase of 2020: "New normal". Can we stop with that already? Pandemics do not last forever, and things will eventually go back to normal.

The smarter AI will be a boon to offline flying.

With this new boost in AI performance, could we also request an increase in the number of AI planes that can be put in within YSF without having to use grigor's dogfighter generator?

Right now it seems like the max that it wants to have is 8 AI aircraft, no matter the mission type, and the create flight option only allows for 5 AI planes.

Update: Looks like a link to HQ on the Cnet download page for YS will be added, woo! With that page getting over a 1000 downloads a month, expect a wave of new members if its added.
