WW3 Server

Post by flyingfisch » Sat Jan 18, 2014 5:52 pm

Is the ww3 server still under construction? It seems that only ysvote chat commands work.

Yeah, Eric has been unable to email the old WW3 server owner for the scripts

Could he also enable the repaints of the 2ch planes as well? I don't know whether or not that is GACrP but it had a civi b-52 as i recall.

He is going to make it like the old server, where GACrp is used only for the tankers.

I think it would be better to enable all the GACrP planes.

He doesn't have to start enabling other packs, I just think the server seems less complete without the other planes.

That's all just IMHO though. ;)

I disagree.

1. GACrp is many times larger than GAC itself, increasing log in time. I'm sure that the old WW3 server was renowned for it's speedy log in times. Enabling the entire GACrp will be a headache.
I'm sure that you (flyingfisch), as a Linux user complaining about login times, wouldn't want that.

2. GACrp has a handful of cheatplanes. You wouldn't like the WW3 server if someone dominates the entire map with a T-2ADV Searchlight...

Amen to that. ;)

Well I do agree that the GACrp is a great pack to have, since it fills the niches of some of GAC's missing planes *cough* American Phantoms and Retro MiG jets *cough*, I believe the implications outweigh the benefits. I'm currently happy about the current list of aircraft that is available, plus not all of them are used frequently *cough* jet trainers can be fun too *cough*.

I am willing to add a small selection of GACrp planes. They should be realistic in both their design as well as their performance specifications (DAT). Post your selections below. I need exact IDENTIFY names (from the DAT file) in order to add them.

Added a announcement on the homepage that displays how many users are currently on the server, as the serverlist isn't working properly. This updates as long as yschat is running.
I make this website.

What does everyone think about enabling a few of the airliners in GACrP? Also, the F-18E/F's are good too. And the E-2 Hawkeye with advanced turbo props.

Here is the list of GACrp aircraft which I think would be nice to have.
Criterion: I attempted to add only aircraft which were A)Real, in real paints. B)Combat worthy - I added Air Force One as a possible escort target, but very few other civilian planes. I also omitted planes in demonstration teams, and generally aggressors. While these are excellent, someone else may suggest them.

Where there are multiple planes of the same type and mark, my recommended paint is in bold. "US_A-7D_Corsair_II"

I think adding these civi paints would improve the experience without adding too much to login time:

"CIV_Boeing_767-332ER_DA"

"CIV_Tu-104B_Camel_aeroflot"
"CIV_Tu-154M_aviaprad"
"RU_Tu-154M_FACT"
"WAS_A320-200" Also, these military planes: "RU_Tu-16P_Badger"
"RU_Tu-104Sh"

I like your suggestions. For anyone else looking to add to the server, you can find the list of GACRp planes here: http://ysfinder.net/page.php?pack_id=75

You serious? I can already see people getting butt-hurt over getting shot down.

Hope you have read the rules.
Rules

Rules of engagement
Don't attack players or objects on your side.
Don't attack airplanes on runway.
Don't use flap or trim in a dogfight.
GAC planes are designed as they have "Automatic combat flap."
Don't use cheat tools.
This server is for fighting. All users log onto this server are regarded as who agreed to be attacked by other players. Even if you are using civils.

I personally don't care about getting shot down. Fly like you would if it were a real war zone. High and out of range of small arms fire.

I used to fly plenty of civi flights on the old ww3 server. It's cool because it really pushes your skills, landing in small fields especially.

Maverick, I appreciate your argument. Thanks everyone for sending your suggestions in.

You all have up until Friday at 11:59pm GMT to send your addon suggestions in. At that point I will come up with a list of non-standard GAC planes to add. Over the weekend I'll be adding in these to the server. I want the LST file to stay below 600 lines, so not all your suggestions may be added. Please understand that this is a COMBAT server, so make your choices with that in mind.
I make this website.
