Direct3D module hard-freezing

Post by PR1NC3 D4RK5T4R » Sun Mar 16, 2014 4:07 am

A few months ago right before YSIA, I switched from the OpenGL client to the Direct3D client to reduce lag in-game.

And ever since I have, there's been a problem: I can play for 15-30 minutes, and out of nowhere, bam! YS freezes to the point where Task Manager can't even shut the process down, and it just eats up CPU cycles from there. The only way to stop it is to restart the whole damn computer...

I'm going back to the OpenGL client now, but is there any way to stop this from happening? These hard reboots are going to screw up my computer sooner or later.

All I can suggest is that you update your drivers. Otherwise it sounds like a deep-rooted issue that would be very hard to resolve (other than by doing a reinstallation of Windows, etc).

When you say the task manager can't kill it, do you mean the applications tab, or the process tab? Because the applications end task is USELESS. But with the process tab, look for a process called fsxmain.exe i think it is. I've neva known that to fail....

I can go into the task manager process list and literally spam the end process button on fsmaindx.exe, and it won't do shit. It's completely hung.
