Re: YS Wishlist

Post by Flake » Fri Jun 10, 2011 11:19 am

Was brainstorming the other night and came up with an idea for network formations:

Have YSF Server calculate if an aircraft is leading a formation (or easier would be a default leader tag in the .dat, or a radio command inflight.)

From there, the client of a formed pilot calculates the average position off the aircraft consistantly.

This position is shared with the server, the server informs the clients... so everyone sees a formation as being 18inch wingtip to canopy.

The code architecture exists for this (auto pilot formations) just needs to be adjusted a little. Lets set a minimum range for this to take effect to be say 20 meters or so. any very SUDDEN change in attitude or controls from the lead breaks the cycle and the pilots fly by normal positions. :)

Just an idea though.

Flak. *no, not you Flake*

It's simple, just put random explosions in the air. That would make bombing in the B-17 over Ripsaw Range a lot sweeter. :D

That has been done to some extent. Go look around on YSMajor's old blog. It's got a sub map with subs and other sub stuff.

Sure you can take a look at Oranleeds Swordfishes with AGM torpedos they can also be used for TBMs and any other WWII torpedo bombers. :D

I really really really want more bombs... like laser guided and cluster bombs. And then anti-ship missiles/torpedos

Would be cool to have damaged planes. Instead of instantly dying you have the ability to try and make a landing in which you survive. Ejection seats come into mind but i do not see the point of them in a flight Sim.

Honestly any kind of random event that causes conflict to the pilot in my opinion would make the game much better.

Two things that have I would like:
1. Long Range Missiles, such as the Aim-54C++ and the K-100 AWACS killer for farther BVR attacks, instead of having to go for the AMRAAMs...but I can see how it would be over used so I would think it either would have to be slightly inaccurate or you'd have to point the nose towards the target at all times (no fire and forget).
2. Advanced sounds. Before someone says that I could just download a sound pack, which I already have, Im talking about things like ambient noises in the background, while idle, and in the cockpit. Being able to hear sounds from other aircraft (ex. the sound of a jet engine becomes louder as it closes in on the player) would also enhance realism without raising system requirements (I think).

thrust vectoring, not just for VTOL and post stall. as it is used to advance regular flight.

That's easy to simulate in dats.

Check the Stock F-22 for example, that has 2D Thrust Vectoring,

Also will it work for 3D Thrust Vectoring as in Tranche 3 Eurofighter

You simply edit the wing area, critical AoA's and post-stall AoA values.
The 241st Su-27 can controllably pull cobras, etc. If you want the aircraft to continue to fly forward a bit more, you then simply lower the wing area so that there's less drag at higher angles of attack.

1.the planes that are default should look like actual planes
2.The ability to be an actual ATC with a tower view and your a guy who cant move sitting in a seat in a control tower which is actually one at the airport and you can be killed if the tower is destroyed.you use binoculars,F3 or radar to see other aircraft and see their callsigns on a computer screen
3.The ability to make flight paths in flight by drawing a line across a drawing of a map.

Is it possible to make a plane with a runway floating after it.The plane would have the ability to hover in mid-air while others could land on it.It would not look so good but is it possible?
