Smoke can make older computers lag a hell of a lot. A moveable object would be much easier. The way I see it working would be for a set range of degrees away from the vertical, that the wind sock would hang. Direction would be taken directly from the wind direction set on the flight.

Guys, tracking wind with ground objects just doesn't exist in ys right now. If soji chooses to include something like that, he will, but trying to think of "a way to make it work" right now is kind of pointless.

We know this, but it's fun to speculate on how something might work, even if in the case of YS, we'll never know.

I don't think even smoke reacts to wind on Ysflight. Only aircraft, and maybe some weapons.

I think a third surface would be cool to have: rough strip/grass strip/taxiway, whatever. Possibly a maximum of 70 kts, maybe even factor aircraft weight into it.

Also, does anyone know if there are any differences between the Runway and Taxiway RectRegion settings?

My guess is they help when ysflight performs an autopilot landing? But I think that is mainly done with the ILS, so my guess is probably completely wrong.

After seeing waspe414 question I got to thinking all this time I just took for granted that taxiways did just what they said they did created a limited speed for a sane taxi but nope I did a quick test and I could find no difference between runway or taxiway Rect. regions.I could take off and land the same on both with no speed restrictions or impact limits short of a crash. And to look at Philsters question there is no problem with ILS landings either. So except for the color difference in the scenery editor there does not appear to be any differentiation between the two. :?

It may be phase one of a method of generating taxi lines.

I think it may have something to do with the AI parking system on landing. At Misawa, AI generally pull off to the left taxiway and stop, which is the end of the Taxiway RectRegon. There is a Motion Path setting for this, though, so I wonder if it's to assist them.

Looking at stock Aomori, taxiways allways cross the runway. Misawa and Aomori both have their aprons marked as Runway, but Hachinohe's are all Taxiway. May be the default "Follow Me" if there is no motion path to follow.

Better explosions! Right now, there is a small white sphere that expands very quickly then disappears. That is followed by a red circle that fades to black as it expands. But what if the second sphere was replaced with the "draw fire by pixels"? Soji can obviously aim the pixels, so why can't he use them to create awesome, low lag explosions? Besides, it looks like shrapnel.

WW3 server my friend. Quite smashing.

AI planes unafraid of going post stall. Otherwise it ruins an MAC fight.

YES!!! that and the ability for the nose wheel to react to the ground. The tighter the turn, the tighter the wheel moves in that direction. Rather than set turn angles.
