List of HD or better YSFlight Aircraft

Post by decaff_42 » Wed Dec 31, 2014 12:28 am

This is part of a multi-phase project that I am starting to work on and I'd appreciate your help! I am trying to compile a list of YSFlight aircraft that are Currently released which are among the top 5% for detail level.

Examples would include many of Lord Flasheart's works, Umailbow's F-15s, etc.

My goal is to:
1) Identify all HD or better aircraft
2) Identify good aircraft to either upgrade or make from scratch/ other sources to make HD+ versions for YSFlight.
3) Recruit new & experienced modders to work together to create the identified aircraft.

I would appreciate your help in identifying these aircraft.

Here is the Link to the Google Sheet Here! for you to add to what I have included here.

Note:
UHD = Ultra High Definition. This is reserved for the best of the best.

Would it not be a good idea to add links? Or maybe get permission from the modders to compile into a HD pack?

Any pack generated would be around 1 Gb compressed, I would guess. Most of the larger packs up there are 25-50 Mb, And I know LF's Concorde and Typhoon packs combine for about 15-16 Mb. I think the rest of his air craft are in excess of 130Mb.

Download links would be a good idea, but I will be on moble of a while, so I cannot get to that any time soon. If some one would help me out with that, much appreciation would float your way! :D

I'd like to contribute also!

I'll be spying around the YSFinder site to see if I can pry around the lesser known packs (in my view) and are rarely mentioned. (I'm looking at you, PHIPack and SAP)

@ Dan

Are you not able to write those into the google doc? I thought I made it so that anyone with the link could write on it but I will have to double check that I guess... :?

Also I have yet to fly the gnat due to computer problems, so I cannot say. But perhaps other people can weigh in.

What makes a model HD? I'm guessing it is more than just moving parts? Detailed cockpit? The words "High Definition" in bold letters written on the engine cowling? ;)

It is a really flexible definition. I consider it to be the overall quality of the model. The mesh does not have to be that complex if other things like animations the cockpit or some other features make it stand out.

For example the f-105 from CEP. Decent mesh, but lacking a detailed afterburner and cockpit. Therefore not HD.

Basically im looking for a list of the better quality aircraft so that we can identify aircraft types to avoid when looking to make new and hd aircraft.
