YSFHQ Intro/Training server

Post by Eric » Sat Apr 23, 2011 8:40 pm

Would anyone be willing to host an intro/training server? This would be the official YSFHQ Training server, and we would have weekly training sessions. That way new members can assimilate into the community faster, and they would be better at flying as well. I was thinking we could have one training group for civilian flights (learning about proper ATC ettiquite, etc.), and another group for combat/military flights (dogfighting, carrier landing, ground attack), and one more group for aerobatic flying (like Scarecrow's AFTC). I do not want this to turn into a main flight server however, since other servers are geared for that. This server should run only the stock maps, and have the stock planes plus a couple high-quality/popular addons installed (like TF58's pack for example).
To keep lag to a minimum, the person running the server should have a decent internet connection (with high upload speed) and a computer that they can run 24/7 (remember this is a SERVER, not made for Crysis-type graphics). The server will be administrated by the YSFHQ staff (if available) and a remote-admin system should be set up (I have some ideas for this, vince can throw in his as well).

If you are interested or have any questions, feel free to let me know.

I'm available to administrate. I can't host, due to Internet speed, and since I can't run my server 24/7. :( Administration is always possible. A question: Is it going to run a YSPS-like program, for example for crosswind, night, and other extra features? I don't have good experiences with the password system on YSPS however. Keep the ideas coming, I like this a lot! :)

Well if you want a training server like that then here are some things that must be done.
1.every time someone joins ysfhq tell them about the server
2.tell every one on the site that students must fly specific planes and instructors different(if there will be)
3.teachers or instructors will just type all lessons

I would. But I also have my own server running. We could use my server as the platform (I change settings etc.) on a given date and time, if you want to.

Your server is fine as-is. Now we just need to get some groups made and we'll be all set.

STUPENDOUS IDEA!
And maybe those wishing to be server-hosts could admin theTraining-Server. Meaning: Let Administrators-in-Training train to have a Server by Co-Adminning the training server.
Gee, a Trainer, Maybe we could call it the Harvard Server.
