Model Planes Contest!

Post by ksh » Sat Jul 04, 2015 6:13 pm

I was just looking at Abel flyer´s model airport, when i came up with an idea! lets have a model plane contest! I will choose the winner! (of course im not going to choose myself, im just posting this pictures so you get an idea of how to take the picture of your model)
rules:
1. it has to be made by you.
2. it has to be a plastic model.
3. you have to inlcude the name of the brand you purchased it from.
4. the photos have to be taken like the one im showing underneath!
5. and of course the name of the plane!

here is mine!

Airfix, Hawkwer Hurricane. (by the way Picture 3, is not a requiered angle, im just showing of a detail i added!)

Good luck everyone!

Nice modelling Karl! By the way, how do you repaint those models? I've been trying to repaint my models but it can't work.

Best Regards

I haven't touched one of those models in ages, but if I remember correctly you need an oil based enamel. To have a nice durable finish that will stay on. Acrylics Will just peel and flake off the models.

Back in the day I found the best way to repaint a plastic model was to remove the previous layer of paint and decals the decals are easy just a slight bath with dish detergent will remove them IF you have not used a fixative on them.Removing the paint requires a acetone base thinner I suggest floquil brand and a spray gun.Do not try to remove large areas as the thinner will start to desolve the plastic if left to long and fine detail like rivets and scribed panel lines will start to run into each other. It can be a long process but the results are worth it in the repaint.

Haha, Gunny You just made me realise I pulled the wrong picture! Still at 1/72 the model wasn't cheap and I've got to get back to tinkering with it.
