New to flight simulators.

Post by CHENG123 » Wed Aug 10, 2016 3:49 am

I am using Windows 8.1 with YSFlight and a Logitech Extreme 3D PRO as a controller. I would like to know if there is any way to get a view from outside the cockpit with YSFlight. Thanks.

Hey there! Welcome to YSFHQ.

Exterior views in the 2015 (latest version) of YSFlight would be F2, F7/F8, F9 & F6. To go back into the cockpit hit the F1 key.

Hey, welcome to YSFHQ! Hope you have a good time here.

To get outside views in YSFlight, you can use the function buttons ( F2, F3 etc.)
I believe they go something like this:
F1 - Cockpit View
F2 - various outside views
F3 - view of your plane from another aircraft
F4 - Weapon view
F5 - no idea
F6/F9 - Ground Viewpoints
F7/F8 - Rotatable exterior views
F10 - Observer mode

Hope this helps :)

Damn, sniped...

To add to this, if you press F7 or F8 once, the view will stay at one geographic direction no matter what way your aircraft turns. If you press F7 or F8 a second time, it will move with the aircraft. You can then use the letters U, H, J, K, and M to move the camera around the aircraft.

In F10 view, you use the weapons fire button (Space Bar) to start moving the camera and "fly" through the map using the same keys/stick/mouse like you were flying a plane.
