Wild Airports of the World

Post by Strava »

If anyone is looking for some inspiration for a new map maybe one of these airports would be fun to do

Taskforce 58 has made an exact copy of that airport but he called the island "Taca Island" instead of Saba. It is based entirely on the real-world island and airport though, you can find it in his map pack.

I just dnloaded Taca yesterday. Hadn't tried it out yet. Yup, it's a darn good copy of Saba.
Can anything be done with the flashing paint on the runway?
Or is that one of the problems with elevated runways?

BTW, be sure to visit the link in 1st post.
There are about 12 airports in the article and vids of takeoff/landings at about 6 of them.
The tailcam of landing in the alps is probly the best.

Forgot to mention, I think K2W included Courchevel in his "Alps" map for YSFS 2015 and newer versions. We also have Princess Juliana and St. Barths as part of the St. Maarten map by Taiwan, Kai Tak Airport also by Taiwan as part of the Hong Kong map and someone made a Gibraltar map a while back.

As far as the flashing of the paint on the runway, that might be a thig with the newer releases of YSFS. I run the 2011 version and I don't have that problem. The problem I have is the "see-through" property of elevated anything that has been given the "transparent polygon" designation in Scenery Editor

OK, you guys are way ahead of me  haha

I'd like to see Taiwan's St Maarten but the dnload link at his site gets a file not found.
Google hasn't turned up anything either.
Do you know of any alternate download site for it?

I've made some of those airports, especially the ones in the Caribbean map, although not super-accurate versions.
