Friday Night Combat Tournament

Post by Midnight Rambler » Wed Apr 18, 2012 5:38 am

This event is hosted by the RPFS Server.

IP: rpfs.dyndns.org

GAME TIME: ~
GAME DURATION: 24 hours
MAP: Pacific Atol - Stock map
AIRCRAFT: RPFS Robots - Only pack installed will be the BNI robot pack.
The rules for this tournament are simple:
Even teams must be created, otherwise points will not be collated.
Only the HQP Aircraft may be used for this competition.
All forms of combat are allowed, vulching included. If you don't want to be shot, go away.
Abusive talk, bad losers, etc... Are not encouraged. If you are found doing this, you will be excluded.
What is this about?

I'm planning on hosting a weekly combat tournament.

Basically the idea is to run the server for 24 hours starting 7:00pm AEST (GMT+10). Each session runs for approximately 60 minutes.

Every hour, the ground objects are reset.

How do I join?

Simply turn up at the server when it's online. There is no sign up sheet.

When I try to fly the map offline, I get this error:

I've gone through every file associated with this and cannot find the troublesome file in the .lst files. Can anyone help me trouble shoot this?

:S I just put the three folders into my YSF folder and they work... What version of YSF do you use? Being a .acp its an error with a aircraft carrier file.

I can have a look, but I don't really have much experience with any sort of scenery files.

I first encountered the problem on the latest stable release for MAC, but I ran into the same error message on the 20110401 test release with the exact same files copied over.
Perhaps it is simply because I'm on a mac, but I'm not sure. :?

I did some major inspections through all the files from the map and cannot find a file that references the 2000rw.acp.

The 2000rw.acp file looks like this:

Code: Select all

User/sqwar/gnd/2500RW_deck.srf
User/2ch/2chground/ground/null.srf
User/2ch/2chground/ground/null.srf
User/2ch/2chground/ground/null.srf
ILS 0m 0m 800m 0deg 3deg 0deg 20000m
Do we need some stuff from 2ch to make this work? It certainly looks like it from the listings.
Should it be renamed 2500rw.acp?

You got it right the first time. Latest 2ch pack should fix. ;)

[s]3 hours and 10 minutes until the server closes. Thenn I'll try and make sense of the results (didn't look good this morning)[/s]

Edit: Server closed now. I'll try and get some results, but by the looks of the server log and script I was using, I doubt I'll be able to show much.

That's part of the issue with a 24 hour run. It's long enough for most people to drop by, but uncoordinated enough that it's unlikely you'll ever have a very high population at any given time unless some sort of effort is made to bring it about. Probably had 3-4 folks sit around waiting for more a couple of times, then get bored and leave. That's what happened to us anyways.
