(Cluster of more screenies incoming) It's only February and AirFest is in the summer, but it's never too early to start practicing offline. I've been creating a routine and I thought of flying it to see how it looks! :)

I am an accountant working full-time (and some). I'm not here as often as I would like to be. Send a message if you need me. There are a few people in the community who can get in contact with me urgently if you need - don't be afraid to ask. I just don't check here as frequently as I used to. Sorry!

When the USA entered WWII in December 1941, the F4F, by now known as the Wildcat, was the most widely used fighter on US aircraft carriers and also equipped many land-based Marine Corps squadrons. This tough, hard-hitting and highly maneuverable aircraft was the US Navy's only carrier-borne fighter until the 1943 arrival of the Hellcat.

Image
Image
Wildcats were central to some of the war's most remarkable heroic actions involving US Navy and USMC pilots.

Image
Although in a straight fight Wildcats could not cope well with the Japanese Zero, the Grumman fighter's armor plating and self-sealing fuel tanks together with its pilot's tenacity made it a potent adversary in a dogfight.

Image
Britain's Fleet Air Arm continued to operate the Wildcat until the end of the war. In March 1945, Wildcats (the Brits abandoned the name Martlet in January 1944) of No.882 Squadron destroyed four Messerschmitt Bf109s over Norway in what was the FAA's last wartime victory over German Fighters.
