I request this!

Post by Skyline » Sun Jan 20, 2013 5:01 am

I'm not looking for any specific addon.
Those who know me, know that I merely compose meshes for YS, and rarely release full addons solo.
I prefer to work with other modellers, like TF, Iceman, Welnio, and others.
So, what I'm requesting, is to have others finish my meshes again, as they come up.
I get credit, input into the finishing aspects, and to suggest a paint scheme.
I also view the requests section to see if I can contribute to something someone else has asked for, but please don't PM me with requests unless you're a long-time friend or are staff.

Below are a few examples of what I've recovered from my old, crashed HDD, and what I've been working on lately.
Any interest?

Absolutely!
I especially liked the Boeing 737-200, the details especially in landing gear

I think I still have your old A380 kicking around somewhere. Hopefully i'll get time to finish it someday.

Oh, I'm sure better 380s have been released since. I'd forgotten all about it.
I can always try doing another one, but I wasn't terribly enthusiastic about the 380, heh...

Those are WIN!
I'd like to have my 732 painted in Aloha Airlines flight 243 colours, but that was a 737-297. Not sure how different that'd be from my base 737-200.

Something like this? Image Or this: Image The plane was a -200 version, like your model. I from some research, I don't think that there are any structural differences within the -200 aircraft. The biggest difference I could find is the thrust reverser which most -200s eventually had.

Yah, it was the lower one. I remember watching that on the news. Just heartbreaking.

I suggest you join the Modding Team. You drop your meshes into the Team's Dropbox and others can finish them (do .dats, animations, painting, etc). One of the first rules of the Team is to give credit where it's due.

Oh! Nice idea.
I'm somewhat picky, preferring to work hand in hand with another modeller, but I may have a couple of meshes I might wanna just toss out there for others.

I request that Lord Flasheart take over the Short Stirling mesh and go nuts with it. :P

Here's his WIP thread:

Flash has some of the most detailed cockpits ever.

That office makes me drool. I've done some detailed cockpits, but just as an exercise. I had no intent of implementing them in YS, but this changes my mind.
Yah, if FlashHeart would be interested, I'd be happy to do meshes.

Speaking of which, bearing in mind I've no played for three-plus years; what max file size would you all guess is acceptable for a model before YS starts to suffer Tourettes? I mean, what level of detail, pre-paint scheme, would be healthy?

3-4 Mb would be pushing it to the upper limit. I think Flasheart said that 5+Mb was just too much, but I have not seen planes much more than 3 or 4 Mb as a dnm file.

I will confess that the Sterling mesh cause me to raise an eyebrow or three :P

As for file sizes in models, the most I've ever worked with was 4.1mb in the form of my Vickers Valiant. As for whether there is an absolute limit on filesize before ys implodes, I have no idea. I'm pushing that boundary at the moment with the new Vulcan I'm working on. At present she's 5mb and counting, and I'm only half way there with the cockpit. I reckon she'll hit 6.5, maybe 7 once complete.

Anyways, ill have a proper read of the thread when i get on the pc later
:)
