AV-8A

Post by NeurAxaL » Sat Nov 15, 2014 6:03 pm

Hi, I have been off ysflight recently due to exams and pc upgrades but I'm finally back!

For some reason , i really like the shape of the AV-8A, and i love the american ( a rare thought for a brit!) paint jobs. one of my favorite examples is the one a the Imperial War Museum North, Manchester.

A link to the one i mean: http://farm6.staticflickr.com/5532/1130 ... 6995f4.jpg

The ONLY picture of it ( i think): https://encrypted-tbn3.gstatic.com/imag ... ieU8OVloCQ

Of this one, I can only find one service record. It is from VMA-231, which after flying the SBD-5 as VMSB-231 in WWII, was disbanded, until 1973, when they re-banded (is that a word?). They got a bunch of new AV-8As, and in 1976, were deployed to the mediteranean, aboard the U.S.S. Franklin. D. Roosevelt. they also participated in the gulf war. some time around 2003, they had some AV-8B II aircraft delivered. this aircraft then went to the RNAS Yeovilton museum, before the IWM North.

Anyway. i was wondering if someone could make an AV-8A, it doesent have to be this one(although that would be appriciated.) but i feel YSFlight is missing out on a historicla aircraft.

as you may see i have taken time to make this request, so a little feedback would be very helpful.

thanks

NeurAxaL.

Ok spacificly the AV-8A.I don't think that exact mod is available. But if I am not mistaken Vandal and Lord Flashheart made a number of Brit. Harriers that would emulate the AV-8As with marking modification to them.Nope not any GR MK-3s the Brit equivelent either.

Some hi Def harriers are on my to do list. Next in line is a colab with decaff though. After that though I see no reason why I couldnt sort a Base model AV8A out though.

Looks to be more or less the same as the harrier Gr1 in shape from a glance.
