Coast Guard Unit Recruiting

Post by CharleyHotel » Tue Mar 22, 2011 1:15 am

A non-combat Coast Guard/Civil Defense squadron is recruiting. I am looking for an XO, preferably with previous squadron experience. Our primary aircraft will be the USCG Dolphin helicopter, the US Coast Guard HC-130H, and the HU-25C Guardian. On the civil defense division, we will be flying standard Air National Guard fare with the F-16. Co-ordinated operations will exist between the two squadrons.

The Coast Guard training will primarily consist of Search and Rescue operations with "stranded" boats radioing in positions to be "found" by Hercules and Guardian aircraft and then "rescued" by helicopter.

The Air National Guard will focus on patrolling the mainland and, when ATC rules dictate, enforcing fly-zone limits and escorting overtaken aircraft to the ground. When necessary, lethal force is authorized to be used; however, this will not be the primary goal of this squadron. Further, Coast Guard presence may exist in this operation if an ANG operation strays into its jurisdiction.

As an end goal, the squadron will participate in a large scale exercise involving concurrent sea disasters and airborne threats.

All interested, PM me.

Traditional USCG rank structure will be used.

Interesting concept, but I'm moving this to the recruiting section, because that is where such posts belong. You can refine the topic as you gain strength.

Sorry, wasn't quite sure where this one belonged, as it's not quite a combat squadron and I felt uncomfortable posting in combat recruiting.

As the rules for this forum indicate, the Search and rescue mission, as well as the civil defense role, are appropriate for this section. Combat or military squadrons cover a wide variety of potential operations, and do not imply belligerency.

Thanks. I don't know what I was thinking. The only belligerence will occur after all prior warnings and means have been exhausted.

One texan to another you have my support. Maybe after you gain some squadron strength 171 can do some cross training

Application requirements:
1) Age:
2) Do you have a mic?
3) What is your goal in joining this squadron?
4) Times available to practice/train others if you are interested in being an XO?
5) Preferred aircraft of those listed?

I think that about covers it. Animal, once I get some strength, I'd love to do some cross training with 171.

Sorry for the revive, but I'm a bit confused. This unit was transferred to the 367th, which is now part of the 323rd correct? So does that mean you have to join the 323rd to join this unit?
