YSFlight ver.20120219 TEST VERSION RELEASED!

Posted: Sun Feb 19, 2012 6:52 pm
by Iceman
List Of Changes:
2012/02/19

[YSFLIGHT] Now custom ground objects (not just airplanes and sceneries) can be placed under User directory.
[YSFLIGHT] Languages can be customized by writing a "XX.uitxt" file in "language" sub-directory. Needs to be UTF-8 encoding. If the two-letter code of the primary language (for example, "ja" for Japanese, "en" for English) matches the XX of the language file name, YSFLIGHT by default will use that file. Otherwise, the user can select the language file from the Option dialog.
[YSFLIGHT] A scenery file can store base elevation (Scenery Editor update will come soon as well)
[YSFLIGHT] The user can enter port number when starting a client mode.
[YSFLIGHT] "-configdir" command option. When starting YSFLIGHT from the command line, you can select a different configuration directory by "-configdir" option. If you want to carry your YSFLIGHT in a USB stick and want to switch configurations in different environment (or, want to use the same option stored in the USB stick everywhere), you can use this option.
[YSFLIGHT] "-userdir" command option. When starting YSFLIGHT from the command line, you can alter the user directory where YSFLIGHT look at the user-specific files by this option.
[YSFLIGHT] User-controllable ground object (and Ground-To-Air Defense Mission)
[YSFLIGHT] Trim indicator
[YSFLIGHT] Ski-jump flight deck. Flight deck of an aircraft carrier can be tilted and can consist of multiple polygons. Polygons cannot overlap when you look at it from the straight above.
[YSFLIGHT] Elevation grids can be placed within runway/taxiway region. An airplane will be bumped by such elevation grid.
[YSFLIGHT] Reduced joystick dead zone. Added joystick sensitivity control (default E/D keys)
[YSFLIGHT] Virtual air traffic controller. Currently it can only let you fly an ILS approach. Invoke from "Radio Comm" in-flight sub menu.
[YSFLIGHT] Bug-Fix: Turrets of the ground object were ignoring radar cross section of an airplane.
[YSFLIGHT] YSFLIGHT for Linux: Support ALSA and Pulse-Audio. (For Pulse Audio, delete (or rename) sndYsflight.so and rename sndYsflight-pulse.so to sndYsflight.so in sounddll sub-directory) OSS is no longer supported.
[YSFLIGHT] YSFLIGHT for Mac OS X: It detects mouse-wheel up and down.
[YSFLIGHT] Each type of airplane can have its own weapon graphics. (For example, fuel tank for F-22 and F-18)

Virtual ATC? Nice, I was wondering when Soji would make that for YS (If he ever did decide to do so). Hopefully it'll be as good (or better!) than some of the ATC in simulations/games like MSFS. I have my doubts about that, but hey, it's possible. That ramp on the carriers looks awesome. It'll make my harrier take-offs much better and will put that god-damn ramp on the 241st carrier to use (It's useless right now!).

And when I come to update my YS from the current stable version to the newest stable version, when it's released, I'll just need to copy over all the new files into my old install, right?

Tried it out, guys. My thoughts: Awesome! I've yet find any bugs, actually. Couple things not mentioned on the site, though. Flak FXs (small red pixels that appear as you're shooting with a Ground Object ( ) and the ability to add up to three "cloud layers" (really just a layer of solid clouds at the altitude you set and as thick as you specify. I got 9 screencaps (spam time). YAY!

Image

Flying the Apache over one of the "cloud levels".

Image

Under the layer.

Image

In the key assignments menu, you can see the options to open doors (I assume a new CLA animation)

Image

To use a ground object, click the option in the "simulations" drop down.

Image

Select a map then a ground object.

Image

Controlling a Gerard (I think) in the new Ground to Air mission. At first, no weapon is selected. You use left/right stick to steer and throttle, brake, etc. like normal to drive. Upon hitting the "select weapon" button, the gun's are selected and the view moves to to the turret. You aim by using the joystick (mouse for some people). Rotational speed is limited to make it a little more believable. Missile firing speed is also limited to roughly 10-20 seconds so that no one can missile spam on servers but it also makes it a little more realistic.

Image

The small red pixels are flak FXs.

I've yet to try the ATC thing, but expect that within 10 minutes. Have fun, guys!

NOTE: posted this in YS Filight Simulator thread because I couldn't see this one yet.

Yeah, it's pretty cool. ATC works similar to FSX ATC. You press enter to open the menu and then select a runway. All the runways (with ILS, I believe), are listed. Upon, selecting one, the Tower will give you permission to take off. There is no need to respond to anything it says (in fact, there isn't an option to respond). You are referred to as "Player Airplane" (lol) in the little chat message. I'm going to see if setting a client username will change that. It should, in theory give you instructions to get you to the ILS approach, however, it took me a few miles out over the Pacific heading away from PHNL. I believe that it was treating me as if I was flying a heavy, but I was only flying the A-4 so all the space was kinda unnecessary. Still cool and fun.

=O
I heard there was never gonna be a ysflight update
I wanna punch whoever said that in the face.
This..... *downloads* are the addon installation things any different in this version?

EDIT: Try an afterburner takeoff in the stock f-22 on this. It goes from 0 to 100kts in like 1 second.

another edit: I noticed this has no ysclass folder in it.

I love these missiles
Image
Yeah all those loops are one missile
That was during the awesome ground defence mission.
The missile made about 3 more loops before it hit.

Code: Select all

WPNSHAPE FUEL STATIC aircraft/f22_fueltank.srf
WPNSHAPE FUEL FLYING aircraft/f22_fueltank.srf
TF58 & Iceman, your weapon packs are going to get a lot more use.

Also, we should make YS a PortableApp: http://portableapps.com/apps/developmen ... m_launcher

I'm gonna make the f-15 shoot little F-15s... and the F-22's gonna shoot little F-22s.... yeah!

Idea: Squadrons manufacture their own weapons with their own paint on them lol

Damn, this update sounds amazing... and confusing.

Glad to see that stealth can have greater use now.

Usually what I do is install the test version into my documents and setting folder separate from the ysflight .com so that you don't overwrite your stable version.
Than copy and paste the the contents of the stable version to the test version. That way you will have the stable version for server play.
Note: do not copy and paste the stable config. files to the test version.Or vise versa.Note2:Back up all the stable files on a separate disk or flash drive if you don't already.Better safe than sorry. ;)

I'm having some trouble driving. The cars really seem to like to drift.
