[ENHANCEMENT]OpenYS Pack (Cur. Ver: 20151101[1908])

Hi all!

This pack is for EVERYONE who wants to use OYS - it's not mandatory but it will improve your experience on any OYS Server.

What's inside? Player controllable aircraft carriers, plus portal markers and blip objects for when I add marker objects to the server.

In the next version, I will add multi-colored fireworks.

How does the player controlled carriers work?

Player controlled carriers are any aircraft in YSF that has the line "REM OPENYS OYS_CARRIER <IDENTIFY>" - REM to stop YSF from tripping up, OPENYS to tell OPENYS it should read this variable... then just like YSF from there - OYS_CARRIER is the variable name and it should be set to the identify name of a suitable ground carrier object.

The aircraft is the visual model. The ground object is INVISIBLE, but provides the landing platform etc. functionality!

I tend to want to update this pack a LOT less then OYS - as this pack is just user end visuals and nothing much more to imrpove your YSF experience on OYS servers!

Opps! no hard deck. Bomb would have been first to land, but the ships are hollow on my server. Any ideas?

For a laugh, I decided to see if I could still land from the carrier when it was flying in the air. I could. There were no major issues, even as the carrier listed to the side.

Hi all - after extensive analysis I am quite convinced the shaking carriers issue is a result of carrier objects in YSF not obeying velocity updates.

As a result there is no "smooth" movement from one position to another - the carrier "jumps" across the positions instantaneously.

I have reported this issue to Soji just now and hopefully this is corrected soon!

I HAVE ADDED A POLL TO THE POST RE: CARRIER COLLISION FILES!

Currently if you undershoot the deck you will fly straight through the carrier - this shouldn't happen, you should explode in a fiery inferno!

Would you like me to add hull collisions to the next pack update?

Also since the vote is near unanimous with adding collisions to the carriers I will do that in the next update. Also wanting to add flare launcher dummy objects to the next build so I'll update both at once.

a collision file should be added to the carriers. there is no thrill in landing on a carrier that you can't plow in to the side of if you miss. there is also no honor in it.

i've noticed that the carriers fall a short distance when they first spawn. i most cases when this happens, the carriers are destroyed with in three or more tries to spawn them.(this happens to me when i try to use them. i can't speak for anyone else).

The Carrier object was used with permission of the VFA-49th and Darkness of Enigma, the original creators. I forgot to add that to the original post and for that I sincerely apologise. :oops:
