Hey guys, continuing on with the ag planes, heres a couple models i scratch built from the Thrush S2R and 510P maintenance manuals. Not sure if the handling is correct as im not a pilot, however the visual model and the cockpit are close to how they look in real life. The models are all blanks. The S2R has a Pratt and Whitney R-1340 radial engine, the 510 has the option of a few different Pratt and Whitney PT-6 series turboprop engines as well as the General Electric H80 engine, Finally the 550 is powered by the Pratt and Whitney PT-6. I work on these aircraft types (minus the 550) at work. I'm hoping to do a whole low res ag pack. Let me know what you think!

I thought the Thrush S2R was an Air Tractor. But Thrush and Air Tractor are different companies? But their planes look the same? I'm confused. :?

Is Air Tractor the Taurus to Thrush's Beretta? It looks like the guy who designed the Thrush aircraft started Air Tractor and continued designing aircraft based on his earlier designs? Still confused.

Haha I thought the same thing when I started in the industry. However there are many differences with the aircraft, most noticeably in the landing gear. with the exception of the 550, all thrushes have a three pronged gear with a set of shock absorbing discs. Where as Air Tractor have the spring gear as seen on the 550. The load sizes are different as well, Air Tractor carry 300, 400, 500, 700, and 800 gallon loads where as the Thrush aircraft have loads of 510, 550, and 710 gallons.

The Thrush company was originally named Ayres and then became Ayres Thrush, and the folded and was re vamped in 2004 as Thrush. The S2R has a larger area behind the engine than any of the 301, 401, or 501 aircraft (remember if Air Tractor ends in a 01 it is a radial engine, if it ends in 02 it is a turbine engine).

Depending on who you ask, the Air Tractor is generally viewed as a little less stable than the Thrush platform.
