[SCENERY] Vuelo Beach Air Show

Post by VNAF ONE » Fri Apr 27, 2012 4:47 pm

Welcome to Vuelo Beach!

[previmg]https://i.imgur.com/mOWx9.png[/previmg]

Map has been heavily altered since this picture was taken.

This is a preliminary release as I need to improve and add more to the map later. This map provides a very unique perspective on a beachfront air show including a viewpoint at a place I like to call Falcon Sound. This is a small turn in the beach that sticks right underneath the air show flight path. While most aircraft turn to allow the crowd to get the same view, there is the occasional time when a jet will roar directly overhead at only hundreds of feet. This map also features some firsts in YS including an accurate dragstrip. In my full release of this map, all scenic amenities will be included. This means a fully functional airport, dragstrip, city structures, trees, etc. Have fun!

Simply awesome! I like the detail you put into the city blocks. Downloaded

EDIT: I flew and found myself getting around 10fps. It's probably because your map is too awesome for my computer to handle.

I'm thinking that if you removed those little bumps, you'd get a better fps, because everything else doesn't seem excessive, and you're mainly using elevation grid buildings. I think that it is a function of the number and close proximity of these guys that are dragging down the fps.

Perhaps you could make a second version that was "low lag" and excluded those guys.

I've taken extra care to minimize extra crap so that everyone can achieve the highest fps possible without losing any scenery details that apply to the show. Those bump things believe it or not do not have much of an effect at all since they are simply rectangular prisms and are all on the same elevation grid. In essence, they cause as much lag as a mountain but with fewer slopes and vertices. I removed a lot (I'm talking about from the full detail map btw) of those tree areas and I found that I had to do more than that to get fps back up. I get about 20-25 the way it is now. However I would say the biggest culprate for lower fps is ground objects (yes I don't like them very much as you can tell  ). I will see what more I can do to improve the framerate but for the moment, I'm not willing to get rid of those "trees" because they're placed in a hot viewing spot for Falcon Sound (they make the "backside" and takeoff area look cool haha). If it is that necessary, I'll get them outta there. Good feedback though and gives me something to think about. This is what I like.

I think that is actually more laggy than having them all separate elevation grids...

Those "little bumps" are simulated trees and they don't lower the fps unless there are many separate elevation grids.

Anyway, nice job VNAF ONE!
