Hello Air Dogs and Navy Birds

Post by Mog »

Oh jeez, introductions are always tricky, anyways here goes.

I've a newcomer to the YSFlight community, drawn in by how active the community is for a game that's from the late 90's. In terms of the flight sim community, I'm far from being a newcomer, with my first flight sim being the first Falcon game. Today I dabble in Falcon BMS, DCS World and FSX.

I have a particular interest in Naval Air Power, which stemmed from a trip I took with the Air Cadet squadron I was with to the US Naval Base at Norfolk, Virginia; getting a tour of the USS Enterprise as well as staying next to an airfield where during the night, the F/A-18's stationed there were doing training operations.

I've pretty much fallen for the Super Hornet since then. It might not be as classy as the F-14, but as a replacement, it can do the job of the Tomcat, and replace the needs of separate role aircraft like the S-3, A-6 and EA-6B in one go.

I generally like any fighter that's out there, but Navy Birds are by far my favourite. I dunno, there's something appealing about being able to send a couple of tonnes of aircraft screaming off a small deck with a steam catapult.

Anyways, I've been lurking on the Discord channel and decided to make my way to the forums in proper to get myself acquainted here. I look forward to seeing what this community has to offer!

Mog, that is a very good introduction post. I wish more new members would post introductions like that. :)

This is my welcoming message:

Don't double post, don't type in all caps, don't upload addons made by other people, don't request anything for a few weeks, don't release modifications to other people's addons without citing your sources, and when on a server stop shooting anything that drops three flairs and don't shoot anything on the ground or anything that isn't carrying weapons.

These are rules that all new members should know but won't know until they break one of them.

Hiya.
I am an accountant working full-time (and some). I'm not here as often as I would like to be. Send a message if you need me. There are a few people in the community who can get in contact with me urgently if you need - don't be afraid to ask. I just don't check here as frequently as I used to. Sorry!

Perchance I could sway you from your F/A-18 E/F/G ways and tempt you with some F-35Cs?

If you're referring to your F-35 models, they're pretty good! :D

But as for the real life counterpart, it has a long way to go before I'm convinced it's not just an F-16 with stealth and an experimental art sculpture designed to be a gun pod.
