Let's see, aircraft I spotted today at OUN, in the outdoor observation area just outside the small terminal:
- 3 Beechcraft Super King Air 350s
- About a dozen Cessna Citations (Sovereigns, IIIs, Vs and possibly a X)
- Some Westwind 24s
- A Gulfstream I
- Some King Air 90s
- A Bombardier Challenger 300
- A Falcon 7
- Several Learjets (45XRs and 75s)
- An Embraer Phenom 100
- Some Pilatus Turbos
- Some TBMs
- A couple Piaggio Avantis
- Several more smaller aircraft like Mooneys, Pipers, a couple 172s thrown in just for kicks (ok, not just for kicks, they came in for the OU-Ohio State game but you get the idea)
To add to the excitement, a storm went up northwest of Norman and started putting out plenty of CGs. To say it was awesome just standing outside with aircraft landing and bolts of lightning in the distance would be an understatement. When I left OUN to go back home, there were about 30 or so business aviation aircraft of all shapes, sizes and ranges sitting on the ramp in front of the terminal and on the secondary ramp to the southwest of the terminal (well over a billion dollars of aviation I saw up close and personal). They had to move all of the OU Flight School Piper Warriors and Cessnas into hangars (I presume) to make way for all of the arriving jets and props. On my way back home (I live about 10 minutes from the airport), I was still seeing aircraft arriving over the city. What a great day!
