I spotted an AH-64D Apache Longbow (alone :? ) out by KIND. I've seen blackhawks in my city all the time but I've never ever seen an attack helicopter flying at less than 1000' through the city. Couldn't even determine where it was headed. If you lived here you'd probably understand how bizarre such a sighting is lol.

I want to go to that airshow next year because it looks like it was an awesome show. Maybe I can arrange something in the next few years.

Here's the list of military aircraft we've seen here at Malta in the past month due to the operations in Libya.

23rd April - 2 x FAF Mirage F.1CR - 1 with hydrualic failuire. (1 dept on 24th & 1 dept on 2nd May)

29th April
1 x FAF C-135FR - Refueller for Caracals. (Dept on 30th. First of type to land in Malta)
2 x FAF EC725 Caracal - Pilot recovery training with AFM. (Dept on 30th. First of type to land in Malta)

2nd May - 2 x FAF Mirage F.1CR - Emergency, low on fuel. (Dept 2hrs later)

6th May - 1 x Qatari AF A319. (Dept on 8th)

20th May - 1 x RAF C-17. (Dept later on the 20th)

21st May
1 x Spanish Navy SH-60 (Dept about 5mins after)
1 x French Army Puma (Dept about 1hr later)
1 x French Navy Falcon 10 (Dept about 1hr later)

22nd May - 1 x French Navy Super Etendard - Emergency, low on fuel. Couldn't land on carrier due to a 25kt crosswind. (Dept on 23rd. First of type to land in Malta)

23rd May
1 x RAF Tornado Gr.4 - For the Airport Fire Dep to familiarize on handling armed A/C in case of crash.
1 x French Navy Falcon 10
1 x FAF Puma - Pilot recovery training with AFM

This is a pretty decent list for us spotters in Malta, as we rarely get any military aircraft here. And in this list I didn't mention the military overfliers we are seeing every few minutes.

Yesterday I saw a pair of Harvards fly over while walking over to a friend's house. Today, I saw a low flying British Airways 747, heading towards Pearson. while getting ready for work. My god can that thing make your home shake like hell when it flies over low :lol:

A strangely odd appearance of 4 Ah-1Ws, The airbase nearby my school operates Blackhawks and previously apaches also, so I was wondering why they were doing there. :S

Maybe they have pulled them out for training purposes.

Anyways...tonight while I was having "fun" on Erict server, a pair of CF-18's, heading towards Quebec, passed by, I could make out their shapes in the dark, and the noise also gave it away. It sure got all the dogs in the vicinity barking like mad

Two Chinooks flying near my house this morning probably heading into Northolt. An hour later a single Chinook flew over my school. Lovely sound those engines make.

apparently (and this was from a friend who worked there), it was heading to Cold Lake when its engine malfunctioned. I wonder why it would go through Southern Ontario when it could have just flown across the States and enter through Alberta :P

2 x FAF Mirage 2000 landed today at Luqa, Malta after 1 of them damaged the fuel probe when refuelling from a French C-135FR. They both landed on a fuel emergency and seems that the one which damaged the probe had a fuel leak. 1 of them made a night departure at about 9.00pm, the other one is waiting for a C-160 to get the ground crew here and fix the problem.

::EDIT:: 2nd June 2011

Today we had a French Navy Super Etendard which diverted to Malta at about 0205LT after coming back from tactical airspace.. It refused to land on the Charles De Gaulle aircraft carrier since the GBU-49 it carried failed to leave the aircraft after it was fired. At about 1100LT a French Navy Caracal heli arrived from the CDG carrier with the crew to repair the unserviceable Etendard. The Super Etendard departed at around 1550LT while the Caracal departed at 1830LT.

Also at about 1345LT, a USAF Air Mobility Command HC-130P had a fuel leak and declared an emergency after coming back from tactical airspace and proceeded back to Ramstein AFB in Germany.

::EDIT:: 3rd June 2011

2 x F-16s (still have to confirm if they are either Dutch or Danish) landed runway 13 at Luqa, Malta a couple of minutes ago (0641LT). Don't ask why yet, all I know is when I turned the radio on I heard "Poison 75, winds from 060 at 10knots, cleared to land runway 13". More info coming soon...

Taking a walk yesterday and was delighted to see a Griffen Helo (possibly from Borden) flying around the area. It circled the area for 15 mins before heading off

Yep they were Danish, both were armed with 2 x AIM-9 and 2 x Laser Guided Bombs (one of them only had one LGB remaining). They diverted due to the 400m visibility at Sigonella (LICZ), both departed at around 1030LT as Poison 65.
