F/A-18 Crashes Into Residential Neighborhood in Virginia

Post by mitout » Fri Apr 06, 2012 7:16 pm

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (AP) — Two Navy pilots ejected from a fighter jet Friday, sending the unmanned plane careening into a Virginia Beach apartment complex and tearing the roof off at least one building that was engulfed in flames, officials said.
At least three people were taken to hospitals, including both pilots, officials said. The Navy said both aviators on board the jet ejected before it crashed around noon and were being taken to hospitals for observation.

I just heard about that on the radio. I wonder why it went down (typing before reading again).

EDIT: sounds like they were aiming for the water but came down early.

Damn. Glad not more people were hurt and no one died. Kinda sucks to have your house incinerated by the government though...BIG BROTHER IS WATCHING YOU! :D

Not to worry there where JAG officers and lawyers all over that place 15 mic after it happened even before the emergency teams arrived.

Everyone on the ground has been accounted for, so we can safely say there are no fatalities.

It's on my country's news now. It's being said that one pilot apologised while he was being attended.

Yeah I read that too.

I think it was funny that the guy who pulled him to safety was the one whose house he landed on. I may have mis-read that, but i think he said "Sorry for destroying your house" to that guy.

I'm just amazed no one was killed an only a few were wounded. Funny the pilots had a sense of humor right afterward too.
