100th anniversary of the first ever air strike

Post by Taskforce 58 » Thu Mar 24, 2011 9:13 pm

Just found out that 2011 is the 100th anniversary of the first ever air strike in history, when on 1 November 1911 an Italian pilot dropped the first bomb from an aircraft on Turkish troops in...Libya (then under the control of the Ottoman Empire).

Huh!

I guess history repeats itself.

Yea. We're still bombing the libyans.

Taking off from Italy.

Somewhere, somehow, someone's mind is blown.

Have you heard the B-2??? My my! I'd be surprised. The early powerplants they used were probably quite loud.

I was joking. I have seen a B-2 and it was very quiet.

The tech changes but the mind never will ;)
I don't know who you are. I don't know what you want. If you are looking for my signature, I can tell you I don't have one. But what I do have are a very particular lack of skills, skills I have imagined having over a very long career. Skills that make me are completely useless in any situation. If you stop reading now, that'll be the end of it. I will not look for you, I will not pursue you. But if you don't stop reading, I will look for you, I will probably not find you, and I will kill your refrigerator.

I would beg to differ...I possess a 1912 West Point aviation textbook that describes aerial bombardment as a "passing phase" in warfare.
