The Boeing 737-200 is parked since 2004 in a remote area of the airport Confins . The aircraft , manufactured in 1969 , was sold for £ 92,000 at an auction on 30 October.

The buyer is a partner in a business group of hoteliers and real estate in Minas . He said that soon , the aircraft will be exposed to the public and he is keen to preserve the memory of the PP-SMA , prefix the Boeing 737 which was the first to fly in Latin America and record by flying more time in a single company air . Boeing , who contacted and made an excellent offer to buy it and take it to the museum it in Seattle, United States , and beyond offer another similar aircraft in exchange for PP-SMA , but the offer was rejected.

Despite the poor condition of the fuselage , the interior of the main cabin has remained largely intact , with leather armchairs and coatings in good condition . Already in the cockpit , lack many facilities , but that the entrepreneur is already providing to leave the original cockpit . As the plane was not boasting more turbines coupled to the wings , the winner of the auction said it will put the fairings for the external appearance is identical to that of an aircraft still in operation .

The businessman plan to paint the plane again with the colors of VASP in the same scheme when it stopped operating, for that is seeking permission to use the trademark of the airline, which was confirmed by the bankruptcy Superior Court of Justice (STJ ) in June 2013. The only investment in the reform of the aircraft is about £ 90,000 ($ 40,000), but the values for the dismantling and transfer of the aircraft were not disclosed.

The Boeing shall leave the airport Confins at most 30 days, according to the buyer and the logistics have been studied with transit authorities and Infraero. "We have some cool ideas, but at the moment we will not reveal, but aviation fans will enjoy," said the buyer in a mysterious tone.

I thought that the original prefix was to be conserved, but I spotted PP-SFI on the fuselage?
Also I'm not sure if the pounds you mentioned were UK pounds sterling, but a quick google revealed that if it is, the USD price would not be 40000 but 150000.

The renovation looks pretty much like a success. :D

There are hundreds of 737s in South America, with the main plane for most South American airlines being this plane or the A320. Based on my highly scientific but most likely incorrect calculations, there are around 30 airlines in South America, and at least 500 737s flying around. While this may seem a small amount (there are around 5000 737s flying today)most of these airlines are small, so the 737 is the backbone of the fleet. South American airlines also tend to end up with the old planes from the North American and European airlines. Trust me, I've been on quite a few of them!
So this plane is the first of these, so is quite a symbol to the South American market.
