[MH17] Another Malaysian Triple 7 Lost

Post by iqmal_97 » Thu Jul 17, 2014 4:34 pm

http://www.reddit.com/r/news/comments/2 ... _to_kuala/

The plane was shot down by an air-to-ground missile even though it's practically 30 Miles off the Russian border. All 295 people are dead.

What makes it sadder for me is that the plane, 9M-MRD was the plane that sported the Freedom of Space livery back in 2005.
She was a special bird to me...

Keep in mind that 295 lives were lost. I can only imagine what their families must be feeling right now. My deepest condolences to them.

Malaysian Airlines Flight 17 Shot Down over Ukraine

Post by Doggeh1 » Thu Jul 17, 2014 5:22 pm

ANOTHER Malaysian airlines tragedy, just months after losing MH370. MH17 was shot down during a routine flight from The Netherlands to Malaysia. What makes this even more spooky is that it was also a 777. The plane was brought down by what is believed to be a surface to air missile. It was brought down near Donetsk in Ukraine. Russia has been accused of shooting it down, but it will become clear who actually did bring it down, as the US have access to satellites that can see where the missile was launched from. It had almost 300 people on board. All are reported to have been killed.
The wreckage of the crashed plane -

Here is a map of where it crashed and took off.

This is similar to the cold war incident, in which Russia shot down a Korean 747 that had gone of course, believing it to be spying.
It seems as though we're entering another era of Cold War type scares and political near misses.

Well, at the moment it's not clear if it was shot down, or just crashed in an accident. The Aircraft was flying at 30.000+ feet, regular MANPADS, like the ones used by the rebells, never could have reached it, so, if it was shot down, it must've been a more advanced surface to air missile or another aircraft.

RIP to those who lost their lives!

Doggeh1 - Iqmal made a post on this about an hour before yours, so I decided to merge the topics into one.

Wow - I was unaware the aircraft shot down was their pretty livery bird.

From what I just heard, the Soviets are claiming the Ukrainians shot it down by accident when they missed Putin's plane. It looks to me like the Soviets were trying to frame the Ukrainians, but at this point it is all speculation. It won't be hard to figure this one out. The CIA and European intelligence agencies already know what happened. We're just waiting for them to tell us...if they ever do.

Kinda crazy to think about this, but before the bad landing at LAX last June, the 777 had ZERO fatalities in all of its accidents. In the last year and a month, there have been 540 fatalities.

My sympathies to the families of all onboard the flight.

Who could give that sort of order?

"Nope that jet is too close - shoot it down!"

So sad; RIP all those lost on board  . I couldn't believe my eyes when I woke up this morning and saw the news :o . Ukraine/Russia border looks like a place for all aircraft to avoid.

Hmm... Looks like the pro-Russian militants.
