The P-38 Lightning was introduced in 1941 and served all the way to the end of the war, while the Macchi C.202 also was introduced in 1941 and also served to the end.

Initial Macchi C.202 was powered by the Diamler-Benz DB601 engine, which was in heavy use by Germany to power its main combat aircraft such as the twin engined Messerschmitt Bf 110

The de Havilland Mosquito F Mk XVIII, another twin engine plane of WW2, also know as the Tsetse.
A couple of facts about it:
Only 35 where built.
It had a Molins "6-pounder Class M" cannon: this was a modified QF 6-pounder (57 mm) anti-tank gun fitted with an auto-loader to allow both semi- or fully automatic fire. One shell of this ripped an engine off a Ju-88.
This plane sunk 7 U-boats and several ships
The mosquitos in general where so feared by the german command, that if a german pilot shot one down, two kills would be given.... :)

Image

Just for the record - although the mosquito is my fav WW2 aircraft, I prefer the Marks VI, in my opinion the best twin engine aircraft of WW2. But the XVIII is more interesting!

Another Royal Navy aircraft that would fit serving with the Sea Vixen is the Supermarine Scimitar.
She's big, but still streamlined girl. <3

The Scimitar was operated by the 736 Naval Air Squad. The squadron also operated the Supermarine Attacker.

The aircraft that the Attacker was based on was the Supermarine Spiteful.

Me 262. The inspiration for the wing mounted engines, and the start of the jets.
I don't know who you are. I don't know what you want. If you are looking for my signature, I can tell you I don't have one. But what I do have are a very particular lack of skills, skills I have imagined having over a very long career. Skills that make me are completely useless in any situation. If you stop reading now, that'll be the end of it. I will not look for you, I will not pursue you. But if you don't stop reading, I will look for you, I will probably not find you, and I will kill your refrigerator.

The Me-262 only started the age of the fighter jet.
The ultimate pioneer of the jet age was also German, the Heinkel He 178.

Just after the He 178 flew for the first time, this aircraft - the Ju 87 Stuka - made a name for itself in the attack on Poland

And it's Japanese counterpart, the Aichi D3A Val Dive Bomber.

An aircraft which is modified to mock the A6M Zero in modern airshows is the T-6 Texan, or SNJ Harvard, whichever you like best.

Another famous plane pretending to be another plane was the Aerospatiale Puma to represent a soviet Hind in Rambo 3:

The Cessna Skymaster is a United States twin-engine civil utility aircraft built in a push-pull configuration. Its engines are mounted in the nose and rear of its pod-style fuselage. Twin booms extend aft of the wings to the vertical stabilizers, with the rear engine between them.

...And what does that have to do with the Sikorsky Sea King?

Image

I present you this apple - It is round, has a leaf which sort of looks like the prop on a helicopter, and has more to do with the Sikorsky Sea King then your aircraft.

EDIT: And it even flys if you throw it hard enough.

EDIT2: And it carries passengers, if you consider worms passengers.

The Hawk T.1 is flown by the Red Arrows who paint the aircraft red. Also relevant to the apple is its symbolism for teaching as it is used as a trainer in the RAF and other air forces around the world sometimes in different designations.
