Shouldn't you also post a pic?

Also, If it is a "Tempest V" then it would have that "weird intake". You must be thinking of the Tempest II with the Centaurus V engine:

Pictures are encouraged but not required. All that is required is the name of the plane and the reason for choosing it.
The pictures are basically just there because I like seeing all these photos of planes (so pretty) and they could provide a hint for the next poster.

Hawker Tornado-proposals for improvements to the Tornado led to the Tempest II's Bristol Centaurus radial engine when the Tornado was dropped.

The Mosquito, the fighter variant of which, like the Typhoon, was a very heavily armed with guns, (8 for the mosquito, provision for 12 in the tornado)

As for the P-47, P-40 thing, both were noted for extreme durability, using it in dogfights. That is what I meant.

Before the Hurricane was used, British pilots used the Gloster Gladiator. Pilot like Pattle http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Marmaduke_Pattle and Dahl http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Roald_Dahl#Fighter_ace.

The last dogfight between biplane fighters were between Gladiators and Fiat CR.42 Falcos over Malta in 1942.

Who won?

The Ca. 165 lost in the competition against the CR.42.

Wiki listed the Mustang in the "Comparable aircraft" section of the J2M does not mean they are related in any manner, at least not for the purpose of this topic. Heck, they listed the Fw190 and La-7 too.
