Vulcan XH588 Barrel Roll???

Post by VNAF ONE » Wed Nov 04, 2015 2:51 am

The CAA says they saw a barrel roll in video of one of the Vulcan's last flights . . . I just see a flat pass or two. Maybe my eyes are crazy but I see no exceeding even 30 degrees of bank here. What a waste of an investigation...

Well, the Boeing 707 and BAe Concorde have both performed barrel rolls. And they are HUGE compared to a Vulcan.
Someone explain to me why the full double-deck 747 doesn't exist yet...

Or better yet, the Boeirbus A380-747-8. Y they no make it yet?

The whole brouhaha is because the Vulcan is a historic relic and a national treasure and the only flying example left and as such one hard and fast rule is you do not perform aerobatic maneuvers that may over stress the structure that would lead to a catastrophic failure of the air frame.Once it is gone it is gone forever. And because its support funding is gone it will only be on static display from now on.But having said that the footage I saw had zero barrel rolls involved.

I looked for a video of the Concorde barrel roll and all I found was a pilot talking about it. Then I found a video of an A380 doing a barrel roll.

The guys flying it know it better than anyone and I'm sure they wouldn't have done it if it endangered the future of the airframe (which doesn't have to worry about flying again . . . ) but the investigation is into whether they broke rules (probably) in doing so. I doubt they'll go through with it but maybe just the CAA flexing its muscles in front of everyone in a "we're still watching" move.

I think everyone at the CAA is on edge after Shoreham. It's the end of the Vulcan's flying life and it wasn't at a display, I don't think we need to worry. I'm pretty sure the Vulcan used to do it quite a lot in the 60s lol

Just to point out most airshows this year I have seen it go inverted pretty much. Its all because of the shoreham crash. But that was its last flight, i mean what are they going to do. Ground it?
I don't know who you are. I don't know what you want. If you are looking for my signature, I can tell you I don't have one. But what I do have are a very particular lack of skills, skills I have imagined having over a very long career. Skills that make me are completely useless in any situation. If you stop reading now, that'll be the end of it. I will not look for you, I will not pursue you. But if you don't stop reading, I will look for you, I will probably not find you, and I will kill your refrigerator.

Yeah, I fell for that one. Wrong "roll", guys.
