MD-80 era coming to an end at American

Quite the workhorse of the skies. At one point, AA had over 370 MD-82s/-83s in its fleet. I am glad (and lucky) to have had experienced this awesome aircraft with American and Delta (which only has MD-88s btw). Great aircraft to fly in, and going by pilot opinions, just as great to fly. Also has a very cool and unique engine sound, especially when they spool up. Can't get enough of it! It's pretty cool to see all the T-tails at DFW everytime I transfer there. It will definitely be strange to see this machine leave the AA fleet entirely, especially given how long it's been in the fleet and in such large numbers.

Damn, that sucks. Good thing I got a few photos of it when I went to DFW back in June.

This is sad. But with the operational costs and maintenance parts, and a lot of other factors like the age, turn decisions like this.
The McDonnell Douglas Family are disappearing from skies. :(

I would like to announce that Moa Airways will be doing a paint scheme commemorating the increasing loss of MDs and DC-9s in the next fleet pack.
