AN AIRPORT famous for its spectacular plane landings has been destroyed by strong winds as Hurricane Irma moves across the Caribbean.

Very bad. Probably see C 130's there when the storm has passed.
Fliped out of the arena, again!

I believe St. Maarten took a direct hit from the hurricane. That's what 185mph winds with gusts to 220mph do to you. I feel really bad for them as well as parts of the Virgin and Leeward Islands that also took a direct hit. Unfortunately, this thing isn't done yet and we all know where it's headed next.

RIP TNCM

Hope it will be rebuild soon...
The A380 is ahead of its time. With the resilient passenger traffic growth for times to come (reference from Airbus's Global Market Forecast), plus congested airports, the A380 could not be ignored.
By any chance if you have Instagram, please drop a follow on @vhaq_aero and if you have Twitter, please drop a follow on @vhaq_aero. Appreciate that!

How many users of YSFlight/YSFHQ living in Florida?
I think there are several, including VNAF ONE.

Well I dunno about you guys but I feel calmer already.
I am an accountant working full-time (and some). I'm not here as often as I would like to be. Send a message if you need me. There are a few people in the community who can get in contact with me urgently if you need - don't be afraid to ask. I just don't check here as frequently as I used to. Sorry!

Oh, great. It looks like it might be turning west and I might get more rain. Yay.
I still think anybody living in Florida should have headed northwest in a U-Haul.

Things are interesting down here so far. I have to evacuate 15 aircraft tomorrow and then I will be staying here for the storm. Forecasts are very scary and this is nothing to fool with. One thing people don't think about it the anarchy hurricanes cause. I should be okay but this is gonna be a very scary time for me I tell you. Seeing the devastation in the islands is unfathomable. What is even worse is thinking of what it will look like here in Florida when this is all done. The physical impact will be catastrophic, but even worse, the economic impact in addition to that of Harvey. Something the US has not faced in quite some time. A real challenge of our resilience!

At least people care about you way ahead of landfall, me included. When we found out that Harvey reinforced itself into a CAT4 right outside our doorstep I (more like we here in Houston) was told to suck it up and get over it since we are used to having hurricanes often anyway. Since you have to tough it out make sure you are prepared in case you need to move to higher ground due to storm surge or sudden flash flood. I gave periodic updates to friends nearby me in case anything changed for the worse since Harvey made 3 landfalls. Show that storm who's boss!

Those who say such things obviously haven't had to endure such storms or they wouldn't have that kind of an attitude. That's like telling someone in Tornado Alley to just "suck it up" because tornadoes are common here. Pretty callous if you ask me.
Stay safe VNAF! We'll be praying for you and the rest of the people in the path of the storm.
