Will TWA ever return?

Post by Not1011 » Sat Dec 15, 2018 7:25 pm

Will Trans World Airlines ever return? I was born too late to fly in it, but from what I've read, they did provide great service.
Oh, and, by extension, will Pan Am return, too? After all, it was the airline that pioneered many of the services we take for granted today.
I did not sell very well, so Lockheed killed me. I'm the reason it doesn't make airliners anymore.

Random stuff:
1. They ain't "sharklets", like Turbofan said.
2. The Tu-114 should really go back into service in a redesigned form.
3. The L-1011 should also return, too.
4. My posts are repeatedly deleted on the AM3 forum.
5. Concorde must return!
6. Fegelein can never die, even when Hitler himself tries to kill him. (Downfall parodies)
7. Embraer should restart production of the EMB-110 and EMB-120, as those are my two favourite prop planes.

Highly unlikely. I say highly unlikely because there have been multiple attempts to resurrect multiple airlines of years past and all have failed, multiple times (Pan Am went to version 4 before people threw in the towel). Of all the attempts, you only have Eastern at the moment but even that is a partial success at best because it was recently acquired by Swift Air (the Eastern brand and logo have been kept as is, for now anyway). It re-launched three years ago with grand plans to become a full-service carrier, but now it is essentially a shadow again, and in due course of time I wouldn't be surprised to see Swift re-brand the current Eastern planes (of which there are just a handul) into the Swift brand.

The big four have a pretty good hold on the air travel market in the country and have successfully figured out how to become profitable, stay profitable and keep competitors at bay. Plus, launching an airline, any airline much less a "glory day" brand is extremely difficult. Even when you have good connections. Just ask the founder of California Pacific Airlines.

My general rant: I will call them blended winglets, not Sharklets; There is no CEO, it's just simply put, an Airbus 319/320/321, or the 320NEO, 321NEO etc. I didn't land IN DAL, I landed AT DAL. On the other hand, I did land in Dallas.
