For crying out loud kids its the tops of a base cloud layer. And the glare at that level will fool the eye hence color filters on helmets. At times you can not tell water from clouds and more than a few pilots have made that possibly fatal mistake. All in all its a damn fine rendering and one I would be happy to use as a desktop print.Good job Pilot1215 ;)

I probably should've specified then. I'm in Jacksonville, FL, this is Cecil Field. I keep forgetting about Jacksonville, NC.

Thanks for the encouragement, Gunny. Means a lot. I'll try to do a proper portrait next time. You know, where you can actually tell who the person is in the drawing.

So, here's the Cat drawing I've mentioned earlier somewhere in this forum. I actually feel quiet satisfied about how it turned out, even though the coloring doesn't match for what I was aiming at 1st

I frankly have no idea how long this piece took. What I can do is estimate the time I took to draw the outlines, which is about 3 hours tops.
I was very hesitant and cautious about applying colors to the pencil drawing, since coloring is usually out of my league and is something I'm not good at.

The pic shows a Consolidated PBY-5A "Catalina" flying boat of the US Navy. It's currently taking off (but I was too lazy to add background :P) and is carrying a load of four bombs under it's wings for anti-shipping operations in the Pacific. I took the liberty of changing the -5A model's flat-topped and unarmed turret with the -6 model's "bulged" topped and armed with 2 nose guns on a flexible mount, just because it looks cooler.

There's a lot of minute details which are wrong, but I decided to leave it out untouched (for now). I used a very standard Stabilo Swans 24pcs color pencil set on an A3 sized drawing paper. Image has been cropped to make it more visually appealing. Also, I don't have a scanner which could fit the drawing, so I captured it on the Lumia 710 phone camera. Cuz I'm cheap!
