Weather in your area 2021
January was fairly seasonal to mild for the most part, just a few days below average. Also had more than averge precipitation.
Last week we had highs in the 60s and 70s, but winter is back in full force. Starting a downhill trend today, going from highs in the 30s to highs in the teens by end of the week. Very cold for this region of the world. Lows on Saturday morning will be in the single digits.
Not expecting a whole lot of winter precip here at the moment, not complaining. Hopefully that part of the forecast stays the same.
Continued cold into next week, this arctic airmass isn't going anyplace anytime soon. It could always be worse, up north windchills are expected to be in the -40s and -50s.

Re: Weather in your area 2021
January was really dry, we need way more precipitation than we have gotten. Highs in the 50s.
So far we have gotten only 30-40 inches of snowpack in our mountains, for reference we are usually up in the 70-80 inch range.
We NEED more snow, we do have the greatest snow on earth right? We have had horrible winds over the last few days, getting 20-30 degree Windchill..
We haven't been above freezing for a few weeks, until today, we hit 45.
I personally enjoy the snow, since we bought a boat, so I can tolerate it lol.

Today's high was 22F, tomorow will be the hottest day of this week at 26F, before things take a nosedive.

Re: Weather in your area 2021
This winter has been a repeated pattern where it would get below freezing for a few days, then warm up to the 50-60°F range and rain, dry out, and repeat.
Finally, the rain and cold came together Tuesday night to leave a thin layer of ice on everything, which promptly melted before dawn. Wednesday night, however, was different. The temperatures have stayed below freezing for over 12 hours, and trees, cars, the ground, and roads are all covered with ice. There is still some frozen stuff coming down.
The forecast currently predicts more snow and ice on Monday and highs below freezing from Saturday through at least Tuesday.
For those from areas that get a lot of snow and wonder why a little dusting has closed southern schools:
We don't get a lot of snow. What we have is ice. You can drive pretty easily on a few inches of snow, but it only takes about 5 mm of ice to make a bad day. Trees collapse on houses and power lines, cars slide off of roads at slow speeds. An ice storm in 2009 shut down western Kentucky for weeks due to broken trees, power outages, and blocked roads.

Some additional fun facts: The low in Houston on Tuesday is expected to be around 12F, Corpus Christi has a Winter Storm Warning.

Re: Weather in your area 2021
We've been lucky here. There hasn't been much ice on the trees and power lines.
On our way out of school on Wednesday, I made the joke that I would see my colleagues on Thursday. They asked why I wasn't hoping for a snow day. (Yes, boys and girls. Teachers love snow days as much as you!) I said, "I mean the 25th." It was just a joke, but at this rate, we're going to burn through our five snow days by Thursday and lose one day from Spring Break on Friday. And that is if we are able to go back to school the next Monday, which we might not if the ice doesn't melt off the county roads.

Had low clouds and drizzle all day yesterday. Expecting continued seasonal temps now the next week with a few chances of rain/storms. Nothing out of control though.

Why does it look like OK City is getting snow on this weather radar?

Maybe it's just "wish-casting" for those who like snow (I'm not one of them ).Neocon wrote: ↑Wed Mar 17, 2021 5:01 pm Today in West Tennessee we are having a lot of rain and some thunderstorms. The weather says we are supposed to have strong storms into early morning tomorrow, but the future radar looks like it is going to be cleared out by 4 PM, so I don't know. Mississippi looks like it is going to get hit hard, though.

I can confirm though no snow today over here, just some light rain later in the afternoon/evening hours. But yeah, the SE is definitely looking at a severe weather outbreak, several torado warnings in MS and AL right now.

SPC Day 1 Outlook
Over in my neck of the woods, pretty seasonal today, should have some sun later on. Highs in the low 60s. Sunny tomorrow with highs in the mid 70s. Not too bad for early Spring.
