Can't find a good free WWII/WWI flight sim

Post by Ruskiwaffle1991 »

I found a site about IL-2 1946 mods with a special mod called YPack which came with the game and extra flyable aircraft in exchange for removing some wunderwaffen so I went to check it out. But unfortunately when I download the 7z files from mediafire they show up as corrupt and Mega has a dumb 4GB transfer quota which is unfortunate since most of the 7z files made to execute the .exe are 4GB except the final which is just 1.5GB. I look forward to seeing a new flight sim that is good while not melting my laptop.

I can't. I still don't have discord and assignments are raining harder than monsoons in South Asia or incendiaries over Hamburg.

^This guy gets it.

@Ruskiwaffle1991. You can still download the planes now and the map when it gets released, run a server offline and add some AI aircraft in WW2 endurance mode

This is technically a ysflight forum, but if I must answer the question...then War Thunder ain't too bad. You start out with planes just post WW1 and head into a lot of WW2 aircraft (and it's free to play). Hopefully you can run it.

Aces High ain't too bad either, even if (last I checked) you have to pay to use the online part of it.

My bad intel i3 tried to run aces high 3 but it was lower than 10 fps so I'll just wait for the next il2 ypack update i guess

Aces High 2 was the one I played, and it's way older. It ran on a crap Dell Latitude laptop.

Watching youtube videos does not mean you qualify for the "I can have an opinion on a game" club. Speaking as a player since 2018.

I've played war thunder maybe 5 times on and off since it was released. There's always something about it that gets me to dislike it. (Don't worry vic, im still downloading it xD).

Aces High 3 is the best in my opinion. It costs 15/mo which is the biggest but only drawback. It usually has 20-50 ppl online at odd hours, and maybe up to 70-100 on events. I used to see 300 on their main server a few years ago. It's a game between arcade and sim, meaning you can team up with your "nation" and strategize to take bases. But you do not take off in the air and you will get outplayed by the game's vets.

I just wished my laptop ran AH3 better and maybe improved cam controls.

I'm gonna preface this with: There's no way to recommend anything unless i know your computer/laptop's specifications.

And i say this because i have laptops that were part of "donations" from public organs that didnt need them anymore, and not even them managed to run something like 2012 YSFlight (even in Linux).
