I enjoy pecan, strawberry, sugar, maple, strawberry, blackberry and apple best, so yes, apple is pretty great. But all pie is awesome.

Decided to share this one outside of sandbox. I lol'd. Pretty hard, actually.

Make sure the first image you see says "what about a catapult" to make sure you see it in order.

Lord Of The Rings.

No, don't just watch the 3 movies - good movies that they are. Go read the book.

 My copy (all three) has been falling apart for as long as I remember. It's a good deal older than I am and I loved it when I was younger.

As for the movies/book argument, in my opinion in LoTR's case the books haven't aged very well. Tom Bombadil wouldn't have made a heck of a lot of sense in the movies, or all the random breaking into song they do in the book. Even worse would have been the total lore overload. I mean, sure in the book you get appendixes, but you can't really fit that in a movie. If someone has only seen the movies, it's close enough to the books as you can hope with it still getting a contemporary audience.

Oh...lord of the rings...heard that it's good, but I'm not bothered enough to read it. Same with harry potter. I prefer dan brown. Pretty good author, if you ask me.
Anyways, what pie flavors do you have, Seraphim?

My first copy of LOTR is a one volume paper back edition from about 20 years ago. Yeah it is falling apart on me too, although I have an ebook version for my iPad now. I still want to get a new hard copy though, one of those nice big hard cover ones with the occasional paintings between chapters. It's like how Captain Picard still has a big hard copy of Shakespeare's complete works in his ready room on the USS Enterprise.

And you are right about the movies, it's about as close to the book as you can practically make it. The whole Tom Bombadil / Goldberry / Old Man Willow story arc is really just one big side-story. As for the back story of LOTR, I tried Silmarillion once, but just couldn't get through the first couple of chapters. May be I'll try it again someday, or just read the book synopsis on Wikipedia.

To tie this back on-topic with the dorm, I think it's high time we have a LOTR movie marathon (Blue-ray extended edition) in the movie room, while we enjoy some fine pies by Sera.
