Sera's Cafe Quiz Show: October Edition Taskforce wins

Post by Seraphim » Tue Oct 04, 2011 12:30 am

This month's topic is smashing...actually its cold war aviation but I may mix a few smashing questions in here just to confuse you all.
Image

Question 1: How many bands can you name from 1946-1990 which shared their names with a Cold War plane?
(for more obscure bands citations will be required)

Note I'm super busy these days so will not be running the game as quickly as in the past. Be patient and wait for me to declare the winner of each question.

I can only think of one, which is U2...

Edit: Also found a band named "The B-52's"

We all know U-2, and the B-52s.

There is also The Starfighters (i.e. F-104)

But that band started after 1990 which falls outside of the time period specified by Sera.

It's actually "U2", and it's a play on "you, too".

Depends on if you ask the Germans, the Americans, or the Russians.

yeah I just decided not to play with 90's bands or war dates and just give ya'll a window.

Yes, we'll accept U2, etc. regardless of the intended meaning of the band name.

I will give a bit more time to see who can come up with the longest list-following the parameters of my question.

Not only do X-15's not have variable geometry wings (you may be thinking of the X-5), but they're not "major combat operational aircraft". My first thought was actually the second to fly: the Su-17 two years after the F-111.

C'mon, guys. It takes five seconds on Wikipedia.
